As stated, Gift Wizard has only one goal, and it tends to do the deed quite well: The app wants to help you find the perfect gift for your giftee, no matter what their situation, age, or interests. The app leverages all of these factors, allowing you to add one each at a time, and then produce a final search that’s tailored directly to your input. For instance, the home screen of the app guides the user through a process not unlike that of an installation wizard found on the desktop. The user first inputs the gift-getters age and sex, quickly followed by the occasion and price range. From there, there are more options to specify the giftee’s relation to the gifter, as well as a few general personality questions about the recipient. The user is allowed to enter three interests related to a possible gift, as well as the next big life event the recipient is facing. All in all, it’s a level of specificity we’re quite impressed with. Once all the variables have been entered, a quick search produces realistic results that will quickly help you find the perfect gift for that special someone.
Design and Graphics
Overall, we greatly appreciated the simplistic design and implementation of the application. The menus are all based around a central drop-down concept that’s easy to manipulate. Likewise, the end results are displayed well in a single list format. We also greatly enjoyed the “They Already Have It” button, which removes unwanted results. However, the app does come across as a bit sparse. There are no gift graphics or additional images to make the app more appealing, and though this is aesthetic, it’s certainly noticeable.
Overall Value
All in all, if you have a hard time finding gifts for your friends and family, this app is a godsend. At a dollar in the Android Market, Gift Wizard is an unbeatable bargain, producing genuinely custom tailored results that will make you a smash hit at any party. Sure, it’s not the prettiest thing we’ve ever seen, but with quality like this, we’re willing to suck up our complaints. The app is a bargain and a must-have for those in need.
