App Timer Mini: Written Android App Review
If you’ve ever lost track of time while checking out a cool app, you’re not alone. We’ve been guilty of this a time or two (or 20…) ourselves. It’s the nature of the beast.
Now there’s an app that can help you keep track of how long you’ve been playing. It’s called App Timer Mini (or ATM for short) and we’re already big fans of its timely style and simple utility features.

App Timer Mini runs in the background. Through the app you can set up which applications it times. Then, any time App Timer Mini is running and you launch the selected app a tiny clock will appear in the upper left-hand corner letting you know just how long that title’s been open.
It’s a simple yet highly effective idea. While we may not want to be reminded of how much time we spend gaming on our Androids, sometimes it’s good to stop, run an errand, pay a bill or feed your children. This app is a big help.
It’s also highly customizable. As we mentioned, it will only run during the apps you want it to. You can also choose where the clock appears, so that it doesn’t interfere with your gaming, and set it’s transparency and color.
Layout & Design
App Timer Mini isn’t the prettiest app out there, but it’s also easy to use. All of your options are organized on a single page. You’ll scroll through the options, setting them as you go. It’s pretty hard to get misdirected when all your info is based on one page, which is nice.
The Mini version of ATM is ad-supported (it’s free!) so you will have to contend with a simple ad banner at the bottom of the screen. For us Android folks that shouldn’t be a big deal, but you can always upgrade to the pro version for a small fee if you really dislike it.
Functionality

We tested App Timer Mini with a wide variety of apps, from standard mail interfaces to some serious MMOs (Star Legends, to be specific). In each circumstance the app worked perfectly. It always showed up in the corner we assigned in the app, and was never intrusive or much of a bother.
Overall Value
As we mentioned earlier, App Timer Mini is free to download and enjoy. There are a few extra features that come with the paid version which costs $.99. That upgrade also gets rid of advertisements. Either version is a solid value, especially if you’re the sort of person who might forget to cook dinner because a game sucks you in. Add this app to your arsenal, you won’t be sorry.
