One Epic Game: Written Android App Review
With all the serious, hardcore games and apps we see here at Android Apps Review, it’s nice to finally find a title that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The One Epic Game Android app from Grip Games is just such a title. By making a mockery of standard game themes and combining them into one epic runner, this title earns a permanent place in our hearts. Let’s see if you feel the same after our Android app review of One Epic Game.
Gameplay

With a title like this, you expect greatness, and One Epic Game does not disappoint. At its core, this app is a runner. You’ll run, jump and otherwise lay waste to each level with a constantly left-to-right trajectory. Motion is automatic, so that’s one less thing you have to worry about. Your main job is to jump and to shoot. Sounds simple enough, right?
Wrong. Because One Epic Game has two different game modes, a story-driven mode where you enjoy a titillating tale of aliens, zombies and evil scientists (and that’s just in the first five minutes of the game) and a free run mode where it’s you versus the world in a never ending jog towards destiny.
By including a ton of overplayed themes and making fun of itself and other titles, One Epic Game is pure pleasure. We did run in to a few annoying things, like the fact that you can’t always see far enough ahead of you to plan jumps accordingly and that the jet pack inevitably launches you so high in the air that you can’t tell where you’re going to land or what you’re going to land on (causing several unfortunate deaths). Otherwise, this app rocked.
Layout & Design
One Epic Game
The storyline scenes and tutorial all have a stylized 90’s comic book feel that’s actually quite pleasant. It actually reminds us quite a bit of the cool Captain American tie-in app that was released with the new movie last year. What we’re trying to say is that the app is pleasantly drawn and easy to see and enjoy.
Overall Value
Oh, free apps, how we love you! One Epic Game features a lot of fun gameplay and a hilarious self-mocking storyline that’s pure entertainment. Right now you can download the app free of charge and enjoy it. Sure, there’s an in-app currency (developers have to eat, too, folks!) but you do not have to buy in to enjoy the game. What’s not to love?
