Here at Android Apps Review, we tend to see a lot of new social media and social networking applications. Why? Well, why not? With sites like Twitter and Facebook blowing up all over the place, it just makes sense that others would come alongside them. However, these offerings typically aren’t as great as the classics we all know and use. That being said, TalkOver, by developer Ice Dragon Trade and Logistics is really quite something. The app makes it quick and simple to chat with friends and new acquaintances about things that entertain us. It’s simple, effective, and above all else, communicative. Concept and Functionality
The idea behind TalkOver is relatively simple: The app aims to help you and your friends “talk over” various media points and topics that interest you. This could be something as simple as a picture you snap while out and about, or it could be as complex as modern politics. It’s really up to you and your mates, as you lot are the ones making the conversation threads. Threads are easily started, and once running, can be used just as you would use any other messaging service. Add a comment when you can, and as TalkOver is always running in the background, there’s no need to worry about hanging around your computer to get the job done. Your phone acts as your immediate access to the world happening Online, and TalkOver will even send over the occasional notification to let you know when others have commented on one of your pieces.
And, as all good social media options do, TalkOver allows you to develop a profile and friends list. These friends can come from Facebook, or from your compendium of other TalkOver users. As threads can be public and global, you’ve really got the option to meet lots of new mates.
Design and Layout
Perhaps one of the biggest problems we see with new social media takers is that their designs simply aren’t up to par with what’s happening in the industry. Thankfully with TalkOver, this simply isn’t the case. The app’s graphics are perfect, and the layout is so easy to use we hardly had to think about it. The tech savvy will have a hang for it immediately, while everyone else can use the handy guided tutorial to learn the ropes. All in all, it’s a gorgeous application, and we had no problems with speed while out and about and chatting with our Android smartphone.
Overall Value
At the end of the day, this free app is the perfect way to meet new friends, talk with the ones you already have, and just generally explore items that entertain and engage you. TalkOver already has quite the following, and as time goes on—and more reviews like this are published—we have no reason to think this wonderful item will flop.
