However, with Audio Evolution Mobile by developer eXtream Software Development now on the scene, Android as a whole is now one step closer to being the creative powerhouse we so desperately desire. The app offers a full and comprehensive way to record our music with our Android phone, offering everything from track tools right down to final mixing. Concept and Functionality
Audio Evolution Mobile for Android
Once upon a time, the author was a gigging musician, dragging around a guitar to various studios in the pursuit of a little cash. During that time, he dealt with a lot of quality recording programs. As such, it is with the utmost confidence that he (me) recommends Audio Evolution Mobile to the dedicated music professionals in our readership. The app offers literally everything one could want from a visual music editor, including multiple tracks with track options, a quick and easy recorder, track splitting, easy track editing, and most importantly, EQ-ing of specific track traits. It’s a powerful set-up, and one that’s unmetered by space. You’re free to add as many tracks as you want. In addition, the app also comes with a final mix-down mode which can be used to finish off your tracks with in-house effects before dumping the whole mix to a popular audio format. All in all, we see no reason on Earth why a musician couldn’t use Audio Evolution Mobile to quickly hash out a quick demo during rehearsal, or even while simply sitting around the flat with a guitar. Audio Evolution Mobile is truly a mobile recording studio in your pocket.
Design and Interface
One of the things we liked most about Audio Evolution Mobile is its easy-to-use interface. It’s not the prettiest job we’ve ever seen, but then again, when as a recording suite ever been gorgeous? The app’s tools are kept along the top, and can be activated with a single touch. This makes them easy to get to, though we still wish a few more features were included: We feel a metronome is a must-have, as is a bit of quantized recording. We’d also like to see MIDI support, as it’s currently quite a challenge to attach your guitars or synths to the app.
Overall Value
All in all, though, Audio Evolution Mobile is easily worth the six and a half bucks it costs in the Android Market. If you’ve been looking for a truly mobile recording studio for the Android platform, this is the one to have. It is, in our musically inclined eyes anyway, a must-have.
