FartCloud: Written and Video Android App Review
Here at the Android Apps Review, there’s nothing we like more than a bit of some novelty application fun. In fact, we even like the occasional app in the same vein as FartCloud, by developer PanoWow. The app takes fart-based cloud technology and immature humor to new heights, allowing us to record, share, and rate our favorite flatulence. Concept and Functionality
FartCloud for Android
As stated, FartCloud is an application that’s all about the gasses that escape from your ares. FartCloud is two thirds recording application, and one third a way to socialize with other, fart-obsessed users across the Internet. All of this may seem a bit strange, so we’ll be sure to explain a bit better. Here goes:
FartCloud first and foremost allows the user to record their own farts. This is done by simply tapping a button, and then letting one rip near the device you’re using. The end result is a specified encoding of your flatulence that can be shared to the masses. How is this accomplished? Thanks to the cloud, it’s not a big deal at all. Within the app, simply upload the fart, and all the other users of FartCloud can now enjoy the spoils. In fact, they can even give your poots and toots a rating. With that in mind, go ahead and label the audio file with a funny name that best describes the tonal quality you’ve achieved. If all goes well, you may just find yourself with one of the highest rated farts on the app’s in-house network. If you reach that point, the developers may even hand you a cash prize.
Design and Graphics
As cool (or humorous) as the concept behind FartCloud may be, the design itself needs some significant improvements. Firstly, the app is ad-supported, but the adverts have been placed in perhaps the worst spots possible. They’re glaring eye sores, and genuinely disrupt the appeal of the app. Furthermore, the app is quite certainly a little rough around the edges. The menus have no graphical appeal at all, and even the recording process (which should be a blast, no pun intended) is very spartan and bare bones. We feel like the appeal of the subject matter could be heightened with only a few tweaks to the overall look.
Overall Value
Then again, FartCloud is completely free in the Android Market. As such, there’s no reason not to give it a go if a flatulence-focused fun sounds like something you’re interested in. Sure, the design might need some work, but at the end of the day, where else will you find an app like FartCloud?
