Solitaire: Written and Video Android App Review
Solitaire. While many apps go out of their way to dress up, alter and re-imagine this classic, this week I had the task of reviewing an app that’s simply called Solitaire. If you’ve ever been bored at work or stuck at your grandparent’s for the weekend, you know the game well. And this app from 1bsyl is pure, simple, free Solitaire fun. Let’s see how it stands up to a critical examination.

In Solitaire the app, solitaire the game is the star. And rightly so. There’s a reason this game is the ultimate classic card game, known and beloved by generations. It’s a lot of fun. It’s been so long since I’ve had a chance to review an app that was just plain solitaire that it took a moment for the reality of it to sink in. No weird characters, cartoons or twists? Nope. Just Solitaire. Exactly how you like it.
Don’t get me wrong, the game has a healthy set of customizable settings. You can choose your background, orientation, game layout, card style and even enable a larger, easy to read individual card view. This app works on Android phones and Android tablets, although I highly recommend playing it on a tablet for easier viewing, or making full use of that larger style.
The Solitaire Android app also lets you adjust the game rules. Do you prefer a card by card throw away deck or three at a time? How about a peek at those covered cards? You can do it all from the convenient settings menu.
Layout & Design

Solitaire
Since Solitaire markets itself as such a simple, straight forward app, you won’t be surprised when I tell you the design elements are pretty basic. Sure, the app has quite a few different card style options, four different face value types and a few background colors. But those are really quite classic in their design and execution. On the flip side, the app offers users a full screen mode that’s really pretty sweet.
Also, be aware, since this is a free app you will have to contend with the occasional advertisement bar. However sometimes the bar is inexplicably missing, and it does not compete with your game play space. So it’s a relatively non offensive way to ensure this awesome game comes to you gratis.
Overall Value
Yeah, I may have mentioned it a time or two already, but it’s work reiterating: the Solitaire Android app is entire free to download, play, customize and enjoy. In all fairness, it’s a tough world out there, so this app and its sweet price tag give it a fighting chance in the rough and tumble world of app promotion. The bottom line is this: I really like this app and highly recommend it to any of my fellow solitaire friends looking for a taste of the original on-the-go.
