Spoing: Written and Video Android App Review

When we talk about classic gaming titles on the Android platform, we tend to talk about big names like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, or even just Words with Friends. However, we have a feeling that games2be’s Spoing will soon be listed amongst the running: And we’re not just being facetious! The game supports one of the coolest game mechanics that we’ve seen in a long time, a gorgeous and rich graphics set, and perhaps one of the slickest level progressions seen anywhere in the world of gaming. Oh, and it’s pretty cheap, too! So if you’re looking for a new gaming suggestion on your Android phone, look no further than the full review of Spoing we have listed out below!

Concept and Gameplay

Spoing for Android

The idea behind Spoing is relatively simple, but still, it can take upwards of several hours to fully master. You play as a small, amorphous blob named Spoing, of course, who must reclaim the pieces of the rainbow crystal that were stolen from him. The storyline isn’t so much important, however, as the control mechanism you’ll be using. You see, Spoing and his ilk use trampolines to travel around. To move him through the levels, you’ll need to land him on a platform, and then pull down to shoot him upwards slingshot style. It’s barrels of fun, and when you also have to avoid obstacles and enemies, things can get pretty hectic pretty quick.

Along the way you’ll also need to collect time-stopping crystals that will help you increase your final score. You can also pick up various items to help out along the way. And, if you happen to not time a jump right, you may find yourself pulling downward to be knocked out by an enemy you thought you already cleared. Again, it’s simply an hoot-and-a-half and knocks the pants right off the mountain of Angry Birds clones we’ve been seeing recently.

Design and Graphics

However, perhaps our favorite thing about Spoing is not the gameplay (thought it is incredible) but the graphics themselves! The app reminded us a lot of Contre Jour on the iPhone, with its dark, inkwell inspired graphics and gorgeous musical textures. We also loved how the levels have been spaced. It seems like just about every level brings along something new to play with, and we were never bored with the mechanic. This is a tremendous boon, and means that we’ll likely remain engaged for the rest of the game—no small feat in our case! Top-notch work, lads!

Overall Value

And considering that Spoing only costs $1.22 in the Google Play store, there’s really no reason in the world not to give it a go! We loved every second that we spent within the game’s gorgeous game world, and if you’re into platforming on any genre or device, we guarantee you’ll get a lot out of the app. It’s a classic waiting to happen, and comes fully recommended.
