Mysteryville: Android App Review
Here at Android Apps Review, we really like object hunting games. There’s just something about the digital equivalent to Where’s Waldo? that gets our gears going like none other. As such, we’re more than stoked to introduce you today to Nevosoft’s latest object hunting masterpiece, Mysteryville: Detective Story. The app bears all the hallmarks of a classic in the genre, including a creepy town, an entire cast of characters, and a wealth of objects that require your help to be found.
You can also find Mysteryville on Amazon. If your curiosity has been piqued, you need only to jump on down below the break to view our whole review of Mysteryville!
Concept and Gameplay

Mysteryville for Android
As stated, Mysteryville takes a pretty traditional approach to object hunting on the Android platform. You’ll be faced with a room full of goodies, as well as a character whose job is two-fold. Firstly, they’ll provide narration and information that lets you know where the story is going. Secondly, they’ll also tell you what you should be looking for and why. It’s a great mechanic, and one that simultaneously helps to further plot while also keeping you engaged.
Within each level you’ll be given a list of objects to find. You can “find” them by simply tapping on them. If you get stuck, you also have a refillable meter that will point to the missing items. In this way, Mysteryville is extremely simple to pick up, but very difficult to master. We spent hours looking for a single object, which means if you’re into the genre for its challenging nature, you’ll be right at home with Mysteryville. The app comes with a lot of content, and with so many objects left to hunt, we have a feeling you’ll be stuck poking stuff for hours and hours to come.
Design and Artwork
As always, the app looks absolutely fantastic on the Android platform. The graphics are rich and vibrant, while the character narration is quite cleverly written. We also enjoyed the level design itself, which puts a fair amount of difficulty into the mix without making you want to tear your hair out. However, we do feel the app is somewhat repetitive. You’ll be doing the same things over and over from level to level, which is still fun, though somewhat uniform. And with no additional items or power-ups to be bought, you’ll not get a breath of fresh air from there, either.
Overall Value
If you’d like to give Mysteryville a whirl, it comes in a free variety that’s got quite a lot of punch for the cost of entry. For the full version, you can expect to pay $2.99, which is hardly a steep price for an app that provides so much good gameplay. If you want even more object hunting fun, you can also check out the developer’s Mysteryville 2, which is free to play around with. All in all, Mysteryville strikes us as a tremendous bargain, and a shoe-in on fans’ Android phones.
Android Apps Review Details: Mysteryville is free. This app requires Android 2.2.+ and up. You may download Mysteryville from the Android Market. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
