Pass the Exam: Written and Video Android App Review

One of the areas in which the Android platform is struggling to keep up with what the iPhone and iPad are doing is the realm of education. We’re seeing mountains upon mountains of applications arriving for iOS that teach you how to do a new skill, to understand better some aspect of the universe, or even just how to get by a little easier. However, Android is severely lacking in a lot of these app areas. Thankfully, though, we have developers like Pass the Exam—and their app of the same name—who are working hard to correct this oversight. Their app makes it easy to study any test from your Android phone or tablet, and we couldn’t be more stoked about it. To view our whole review, simply head on down below the break!

Concept and Functionality

Pass the Exam for Android

Despite the fact that it comes from a lesser known genre, Pass the Exam is deliciously easy to explain: The app is one big, glorified way to create, manage, and study using flashcards from your Android phone. And, at least during our experience with it, the app works like a champ! Pass the Exam first requires that you sing up for an account, which can then be used to access the iPhone and Desktop editions of the application. It takes all of five seconds, and once inside, you can immediately begin to start adding your tests. Simply whip up a folder, add a question, and then suggest an answer. The app then turns this into a flashcard. Do this several times, and then you can choose from the app’s many exam settings. Or, simply take the cards out for a spin in training mode to get an handle on the material. All in all, it’s a wonderful way to study, and one that leaves all of the control in your hands.

Design and Interface

Thankfully, the app looks pretty good on the Android platform, too! It’s got a slick interface that we had no problem managing. Likewise, the folder management features work quite well, and we never once had to slow our roll to figure something out. However, we do wish there was better integration with the desktop edition: Folders can be shared via codes, but not sent directly to your mobile devices, or even cloud synced. Adding this would instantly make the app much more of a value.

Overall Value

On the subject of value, it’s our firm belief that Pass the Exam is also slightly too expensive. We would have loved to pay for the app at two, or even three bucks. But at four dollars and sixteen cents, the app is simply too expensive for what you’ll be getting. With this in mind, though, you’ll still get a wicked way to study for your exams using flashcards and your Android phone. And if that sounds like a bargain, then you’ve got nothing to lose!
