The new Logo Quiz Android app from Emerging Games is all about testing your knowledge of logos. Think you have what it takes to guess them all, earn hints and get ahead? Let’s see how this most consumer-friendly app holds up to a little friendly critique.

The game concept in Logo Quiz is pretty straight forward. The app is broken into stages, each consisting of a certain set of full or partial logos. Your job is to guess what brand each logo stands for. As you progress with getting correct answers, you earn hints. Hints can be used to help you solve troublesome logo questions, but be cautious. Those same hints are what the game uses to unlock higher levels.
For the first two levels, this system works quite well. However, even the savviest shoppers out there (with access to highly tuned Google search skills, I might add) will need a hint every now and again. And the third level requires an exponential amount of hints to unlock. Which leads you, naturally, to an in-app purchase system designed to help you access the rest of the game.
The app’s gameplay itself is pretty fun and mildly amusing. However, the mix is definitely designed to get players to fork over a little cash to keep playing. I found myself wishing the game had multiple choice action instead of making you guess cold. Also, some of the logos are a bit dated. Anyone remember the popular 90s watch brand Swatch? Yeah, you might find yourself wishing you did if you decide to play Logo Quiz. While the concept is interesting, I didn’t find it arresting enough to encourage me to pay to play.
Layout & Design

The quality and consistency of the Logo Quiz app’s graphics are pretty spot on. It’s easy to spot Starbucks, for example, but slightly more difficult to realize that a big black and white M is meant to be MTV. The hint system is clear and easy to follow, and the typing interface is easy enough to use. I did find myself wishing that the game would flip to a horizontal orientation, if only to make typing easier and facilitate larger letters with more space between.
Overall Value
Downloading and enjoying Logo Quiz is, technically, entirely free. But, as I mentioned earlier, the app seems designed to put players in a constant state of lusting after hints. However, the hints aren’t too horribly expensive. You can buy 120 for $.99 or indulge in the beefier 300 hint package for a mere $1.99. I just find the fact that the game affords such a short gaming period before asking you to turn out your pockets slightly frustrating. Especially consider the fact that the game is already supported by plentiful advertisements.
If logs and riddles are your sorta thing, you will want to check out this app. Just beware the money pit that possibly awaits you, and keep track of your hints.
