Sagan AI: Written Android App Review
If there’s anything we’re jealous of on the iPhone or iPad, we’re mostly jealous of that whole Siri thing. Sure, it’s kind of dorky and doesn’t always work. But still: Having the ability to talk to your phone to make personal requests is simply massive. Sadly, our options on the Android OS are somewhat limited, but getting much closer thanks to an app called Sagan AI by developer iFusionSoft. The app is a big step forward for audio control on the Android platform, and with any luck, future updates will continue to improve upon its already rock solid features. Either way, you can view our whole review of the app starting below beyond the break!
Concept and Functionality
Sagan AI
The basic idea behind Sagan AI is pretty simple: How nifty would it be if you could tell your phone to send a text message, call up a friend, browse the web, or even add a new contact to your contacts list? Well with Sagan AI, it can! All you have to do is fire up the app, and tell it that you want to talk. From there, you simply tell the application what it is that you’d like to do. For instance, you can say, “Browse Google.com” and the app will fire up the standard browser and do what you tell it. It will also place those calls or make those texts for you, which saves you some hands if you happen to be in traffic during. All in all, we were quite impressed by the level of accuracy in the voice recognition, too. Sure, it’s Google powered, but it’s working like a champ within Sagan AI! All in all, we can hardly knock Sagan AI for producing a solid voice controlled application.
Design and Features
However, we’re still not quite sold on the app. You see, Siri takes only seconds to turn on with a double click. Sagan AI takes a bit more prodding, requiring you to turn on the app and let it know you’re speaking. In other areas, you can’t really “talk” to Sagan AI like you can Siri, which in our minds is half the draw. We can already send texts and make calls: It’s that feeling of having an intelligent being within your favorite mobile device that makes the experience for us. Then again, there’s plenty of room for Sagan AI to expand in the future, and it is only just starting out.
Overall Value
At $3.49 in the Android Market, Sagan AI is slightly higher priced than we might like too. Sure, it’s hardly expensive, but we feel like a solid two bucks might have been a fairer price. Either way, if you’re looking for great audio control on the Android platform, there’s likely no better option out there than Sagan AI. And as stated, we have every right to think that future updates will only improve what this little guy is offering.
