We’ve all been there. Someone tells you to give them ten minutes, and 20 minutes later, you’re still waiting. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an app that could help you figure out how long it would take your friend to actually do something? Now there is.

It’s aptly called How Long? and the app uses statistical analysis to give you a better idea of how long people actually take to get things done. Let’s take a look at how this smart app works its magic.

Features:

There are a few necessary steps you should take to get the most out of the How Long? Android app. First you need to add people. You can enter the names of countless friends, relatives, significant others, etc. in this app. Next, you’ll need to time them. You can time them for small or large increments. If your friend says they’ll be there in 10 minutes, enter a task title, choose them from the handy drop down menu, enter a 10 minute estimated time, and start the timer. When they actually get there, stop the timer. It’s that easy.

After timing an individual at least three times, the How Long? Android app really gets cool. Not only can you easily track the history of that person’s timed sessions, you can also tape the “Accurate Estimate” button, which will give you a clearer indication of how long a person will actually take when they say 10 minutes, one hour, etc.

As concepts go, this is a pretty cool idea for an app. I did find myself wishing for some extras, such as the option to export reports, view charts and graphs of the tracked information.

Layout & Design:

While the color choices in the How Long? Android app are bright and cheerful, I did find myself wishing the app showed a bit more finesse. For example, it would have been great if the app made the labels and words easier to read. Instead they’re in plain, small text. That’s an easy fix. I also think graphical representations of reports would be nice and make the app easier to see and use in general.

Overall Value:

If you need a way to track people’s promptness, the How Long? Android app definitely delivers. It reminds me a bit too much of a Sheldon-like character, hell bent on whipping everyone into timely submission, but the findings could also be fully and revealing. I suggest giving this app a go if you’re a timely person, or have a friend, family member or significant other who has a problem being on time.
