Here at the iPhone App Review, we very desperately like puzzle games. And in fact, one of our favorite genres just happens to be trivia titles. That may be why we like Who Becomes Rich by developer MobFish so much. Then again, it could be simply because the app is a brilliant combination of arcade gaming and addictive trivia. We’re willing to bet on the latter, but if you’re looking for our full review, you’ll find it below! Starting with:

Concept and Gameplay

Who Becomes Rich for Android

If you have ever seen one of the thousand and two quiz shows that float around on Channel 4 (or late night television for all you Americans out there) then you’re already intimately familiar with how Who Becomes Rich works. You’ll start the game at a very low monetary figure, and with a very basic question. For each question that’s asked, you’ll be given a list of multiple choice answers. If you pick the right one, you’re bumped up to the next level. Answer it wrong, and you walk away with your last figure. In essence, it’s the classic pub trivia game, except contained on your Android phone—which makes it infinitely more portable.

We liked the idea a lot, and we very much enjoyed the fact that the same high-stakes feeling is maintained within the app. You really don’t want to answer that $500,000 question wrong, even though you know the worst that will happen is you’ll game over. Furthermore, there’s a weirdly addictive nature to wanting to beat your previous scores. We kept coming back to see how high up the totem pole we could get, and with each new jump, we felt like celebrating. All of this just to say one thing: The game is really fun. Trust us on that.

Design and Graphics

Overall, we haven’t really got much to complain about with Who Becomes Rich’s looks. The app is certainly more utilitarian than some other trivia games we’ve looked at recently, but it’s very far from hard to look at. In fact, it’s just about right in our opinion, as it aptly captures the feeling of the shows on which the app is based. Best of all, the questions are paced perfectly: The developers have really nailed the trivia side of the game, which is as it should be.

Overall Value

Best of all, the app will only cost you zero pence and naught on top! That is to say, the game is completely free in the Google Play Store. That makes it an incredible steal, especially for those that like a good trivia game. If that’s you, then go ahead and jump on this train. You’ve got nothing to lose, and a whole lot of arcade fun to gain. In our eyes, it’s one of the most addictive games on the Market, and the price is excellent. Need we say more?
