HandsFree RSS Reader: Written Android App Review

Here at Android Apps Review, we like any application that can deliver us a new concept, a time-saving method, or some other gadget designed to alleviate some of the stress in our lives. With that in mind, we’re tickled pink to be brining you a review of HandsFree RSS Reader today. The application offers a unique (as best as we know) way to listen to your favorite RSS feeds, and all from the safety of your Android phone. The app’s creative use of voice control is more than enough reason to give it a go, but if you need further convincing, you’ll find our full review contained below. Starting with:

Concept and Functionality

HandsFree RSS for Android

HandsFree RSS for Android

The core concept behind HandsFree RSS Reader looks something like this: How cool would it be if your phone acted as a personal valet for all of the information you digest on a daily basis? You know what we’re talking about! Those dozens upon dozens of RSS feeds that go so well with your morning coffee. That’s exactly the sort of information you’ll receive here with HandsFree RSS Reader. However, you’ll not need either of your hands—obviously, but here’s what we mean.

The app walks you through your daily feeds, speaking the names of the different venus, then waiting until you say “Yes,” to one of them. After that, the app will troll through the recent headlines until further directed to take a load off and dive into a specific topic. You can further control the application by telling it to “Stop,” at any point, as well. You can also tell the app to continue playing, go backwards, or skip to the next headline. All of these commands worked wonderfully, and we had zero trouble guiding the app around our (admittedly many) feeds.

Design and Interface

All in all, we found the interface included here with HandsFree RSS Reader to be a bit of a mixed bag. Why might we say that? To put it simply, the point of the application is that you’ll not need to look at it. In a way, this is a saving grace, because it doesn’t look that spectacular. It’s a rather bland, black affair, and at the least it’s nothing worth writing home about. Then again, as mentioned before, this is a pros and cons scenario because you’ll not often need to take a look downward anyway.

Overall Value

And at the end of the day, we can hardly knock HandsFree RSS Reader for its value. It’s completely free in the Google Play Store, which makes it an unbeatable value for anyone who wants a little more control over their RSS feeds without using any of their digits. With that in mind, we highly recommend the app and its concept to anyone with an interest.
