Photo Earth
Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com

Ever wanted to have an app dedicated to geotagging your photos? How about Photo Earth, from developer Penguincape? This new app, available on Android for devices running 2.2 or later, is also free on Google Play.

Features

The concept of geotagging your images is quite simple: GPS coordinates, relating to a specific locale, are added to the properties of a photo. Thus, one can view where a photo was taken by looking at the GPS geotag coordinates. Some cameras do this by default, but in case you would like to do so through an app, Photo Earth offers it.

Simply load or take the photos you want and tap Geotag/Change location tag. That’s it! Then, Photo Earth adds another layer of usefulness to the geotagging - it organizes your photos by location. These can be viewed through a really neat ‘layered’ view across Google Maps, allowing you to see where you took such photos, be it Alaska or Florida, South Africa or Russia! Furthermore, Photo Earth features sharing through upload function to Facebook, Picassa, or Google+. It’s a neat set of features and really does provided a fun way to organize, search, and tag your photos by location.

For Photo Earth to function properly on your Android device, you will need an active GPS connection. Also, you will need a SD card, as the app saves to external storage (sd card/micro sd card) by default, not to your device itself. Finally, to view the images organized across the Google Map interface, you will need access to Google Maps, usually by data or wifi network.

Appearance and Layout

Photo Earth Android Apps Review

Photo Earth sports a simple, yet functional layout. Graphics aren’t particularly eye-catching, but the focus is on your photos and their location, not sparkly distractions in the menu and layout. It’s easy to browse and quite easy to figure out from the start. The layered maps of photos across Google Maps is really quite neat and looks great on Android.

Value

Hey, it’s a free app and it offers a really useful feature-tagging with organization across Google Maps. Photo Earth is definitely must-have app for Android users looking to have more control over their photos GPS coords and location-labeling. It also has a relatively low system requirements (Android 2.2) and should work on many devices so we have no problem giving this app a solid recommendation.
