Minox
Android Game Review by AndroidAppsReview.com

Just released from developer Uber Games is the role-playing-game (rpg) Minox. With a focus on collecting creatures and battling with other players across Android devices, does Minox have what it takes to succeed? Read on for our take on this new game Catch-Train-Battle!

Features

Remember the Pokemon formula? Travel a fantasy game world, capture and collect different pets/monsters. Then, train these critters to become fierce arena fighters and take on your opponent’s monsters with them. Boom, success! Pokemon did exceptionally well with this formula and many games have taken similar approaches in their game play. Minox falls into this category as well.

In Minox, gamers must travel around the land, helping out the townsfolk on quest, capturing and training Minox monsters, all while trying to become the Master Trainer! Along the way, you’ll try to get a level 100 Minoix (no small feat!), and also disrupt the nefarious plans of the Fur Traders, a group who likes to use Minox for “other” purposes than training and battling!

You will find 5 different towns to explore, over 70 NPC quests, and unlimited NPC battles to compete in. Intially, you will need a network connection (data or wifi) to register and login. It’s also a fairly large game file, so be careful downloading it if your data connection is limited (best to use Wifi). Overall, it’s a pretty fun take on the Pokemon formula, all on your Android tablet or Android phone! Best of all, it is available for free through Google Play (although there are some limited in-app purchases available).

Appearance and Layout

Minox Android Apps Review

While Minox’s layout is pretty decent (it’s relatively simple to figure out how to play the game from the start), the graphics aren’t the greatest. The developer has put time and effort into a “anime” style for Minox, but it lacks the detail and quality of more traditional role-playing-game graphics. If anything, the graphics are more reminiscent of online Flash games like Adventure Quest or other browser-based MMOs. However, this not to say the graphics are terrible, per say.

The graphics do a good job of representing the fantasy game world of Minox, they just aren’t quite as sharp as some other apps on the market. Fans of Maple Story and other similar MMOs will definitely feel at home with the graphics as well!

Value

As I mentioned earlier, Minox is a free app, with some IAPs available. That alone is a great reason to check it out and see if you enjoy the monster training and battles!

If you are looking for a Pokemon fix or Monster Hunter RPG run on Android, Minox may not be a bad bet. Sure, it’s not exactly original and the graphics aren’t top notch, but the game play is fun and the overall game design is pretty solid. It may not be for everyone, but Minox will certainly have its share of fans! Check it out on Google Play today, for free!
