Leave that guidebook at home. For any tourists that are planning to take a vacation to the Big Apple this summer, this app is for you. It’s called UrbanWonderer, and it is a free Android app that takes you on your own self-guided tour around the city.
Created by licensed NYC tour guide Steven Craig Sickles, this app includes programmed routes through the best tourist attractions in the city, along with a narration of each destination from the creator himself. Icons are displayed on a map to represent areas of interest, and tapping on them will produce an audio clip describing each famous landmark.
Currently, the UrbanWonderer only provides tours for the Manhattan area, but it has plans to expand to other boroughs in the near future.
