Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com

If you’ve been with us long, then you’re likely aware of our (somewhat over-the-top) fascination with puzzle games. We really like those kinds of apps that have us basing our mental matter out against a wall after a few rounds. With that in mind, we were tickled pink to see Circles on our desk this morning. It’s an Android puzzler that provides us with a fresh concept, some solid gameplay, and a whole lot of promise. It has a great price tag, too, and if you’re looking for our full review, you’ll find it ready to roll below! Starting with:

Concept and Gameplay

Circles for Android

As mentioned already, the concept at the core of Circles is a fresh one, which is always a boon if you’re under our reviewing gun. The idea is simple, really: You tap a circle on a grid of other circles, which causes it to shoot off in the direction indicated by the arrow at its center. This motion continues until, as Newton tells us, it encounters resistance in the form of another arrow. At this point, it goes in that direction, and so on and so forth until it’s off screen.

Why bother with all of this in the first place? Well, scattered across the board is a menagerie of colored tiles. It’s your goal and sole aim to hit each and every one of these by tapping precisely the blocks needed to get there. Do it in as few moves as possible, and you’ll get an hefty score bonus, as well!

To sum it all up, you’ll need to think about each move before applying it. The more space conquering you can achieve, the higher your score, and the better your fun. And trust us, there’s plenty of the latter to be had here!

Design and Graphics

We enjoyed the look of Circles greatly, especially the easy-breezy controls. With only a few taps, you can be up and playing the game in mere seconds. However, we are very concerned about the replay potential involved. For instance, there aren’t any power ups at the moment to create momentum, nor really any incentives to continue to boost your high score. All of this means that the concept behind Circles is quite fun, but once the novelty wears off, what’s really keeping us coming back to the table?

Overall Value

At the end of the day, though, we can hardly knock Circles for the value that it is: The app will cost you nothing out of the gate, though it does come with advertisements to offset that cost. Either way, it’s a small price to pay for what is undoubtedly a fun game, and one that has a lot of potential. With a few more updates, a whole lot more content, and a few new innovations, you may yet see a lot more of Circles in the Google Play Store.
