Dragon & Shoemaker, developed by 4toon Studio, is sure to entice gamers from all around with its great graphics and original soundtrack. This 3D side-scrolling RPG is definitely a high quality Android game.
Concept and Gameplay
As someone who is a huge fan of RPG games, I’m always excited to try a new one. Dragon & Shoemaker is already a popular game with those who have played it, earning over 4.5 stars in the Google Play store. It’s not hard to see why everyone enjoys it, though, because it really is a fun game to play. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve seen a side-scrolling RPG, as well, and it warmed my heart to think of the old Super Mario days.
Actually, Dragon & Shoemaker does strike a resemblance to Super Mario, at least in terms of gameplay. The object of the game is to complete 50 levels spread across five different chapters.
Dragon & Shoemaker Android Game Review
The story comes from an old Polish fairytale about a common shoemaker who mustered the courage to slay a mighty dragon. As the Shoemaker, you have to leap over obstacles and traps, stun creatures like wolves and foxes, and collect coins and other treasure.
One thing I want to mention about Dragon & Shoemaker is how easy and basic the controls are. Though Shoemaker will run on his own, you need to have a great sense of timing so you can accurately jump or hit a bad critter with your weapon. The game will get harder as you progress, but that’s what’s so fun about this challenging RPG.
Features
If I had to pick just one thing that I truly love about Dragon & Shoemaker, it’d have to be the original hand-drawn graphics. The game’s landscape does a truly wonderful job of immersing you in this timeless fairytale land, which should always be the goal of a successful RPG.
However, my only gripe with the game is that it doesn’t do a great job of weaving the actual fairytale into gameplay. It would be awesome if each chapter included an opening animation depicting how the fairytale relates to it.
As I mentioned above, Shoemaker can collect coins and treasure during his journey. You can use coins to purchase various items in the Dragon & Shoemaker shop, including weapons, boots, and hats. Each item has an attribute that will help Shoemaker, so be sure to browse the shop carefully for anything that might aid your quest.

Dragon & Shoemaker is available to download from Google Play for $0.99, which is more than reasonable for the content you’re getting. If you’re short on coins, you can always purchase them with real money in the game’s store. Overall, Dragon & Shoemaker is definitely worth the price and is a fantastic game for those who love a fairytale-inspired RPG.
