Willy Wattwurm
Android Game Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
Over at our sister site The iPhone App Review, we tend to see an awful lot of apps aimed at children. We’re hardly complaining, as we think it’s one of the more compelling reasons to get a mobile device. However, we rarely see these titles make their way across the pond to Android-ville.
Just such a title is Willy Wattwurm, from Mobile Solutions Ackermann, which arrives with a wealth of entertaining graphics, simple controls, and interactive gameplay that’s guaranteed to please any child of the appropriate age.
If you’re looking for a low-cost, endlessly entertaining title for your toddlers, keep reading to see our whole review.
Concept and Gameplay

Willy Wattwurm for Android
To begin with, the game is completely sans texte, which means it’s appropriate for younger children, or those with absolutely no reading skills—yet, of course. This theme tends to work its way through the rest of the title, down to the endlessly simplistic gameplay, as well as the pictorial introduction to the controls. In other words, it’s just about perfect: Hand this to your child, and they can figure out how to play in seconds.
What they’ll be doing is guiding their Willy Wattwurm across the beach to his sandcastle home, avoiding nasty crabs as they go. If they touch one of these enemies, they’ll lose a life. However, if they succeed they’ll earn rewards like new characters and levels.
It’s a great incentive, especially as the gameplay can be a little hard right at the start. Your child may have some trouble getting used to it, but it’s hardly impossible, and is still very kid friendly—right down to the easy-peasy controls!
Graphics and Artwork
When reviewing an application for kids, we always look for appropriate and high-quality graphics. Thankfully, Willy Wattwurm hits both marks with room to spare. The hand-drawn appeal of the game is evident, as are the delightful characters and settings.
We also enjoyed how minimal the whole affair is. We detailed the fact that your child won’t need to ready any messy expressions earlier, but that concept tends to apply to just about everything else in Willy Wattwurm.
All in all, it’s a good time out, a beautiful game, and one that we feel any child would like to spend some time with.
Overall Value
Clocking in at just over a dollar, Willy Wattwurm is quite the bargain, too. You’ll not find a better deal, and though Willy Wattwurm does have its quirks and we have some misgivings—mostly about the lack of a universal points system for each level—we still think it’s a solid entry into the genre, and any child would be delighted to have it.
And at the price it’s offering, just over a buck, you can hardly go wrong here. The app certainly comes recommended from us!
Willy Wattwurm requires Android 2.2+ and up. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
