Interactive storybooks are great way to teach young children various skills while ensuring that they’re enjoying themselves. However, some books go beyond words and pictures to create a unique experience for the child, opening their eyes and immersing them deep within the story.
Developed by Tales & Dice AB, Hanna & Henri is an incredibly sweet and adorable storybook app for Android that does just this. It’s truly one of, if not the best interactive storybooks I’ve seen for a tablet.
Concept and Functionality
Hanna & Henri is a heartwarming story that both children and adults will love. The story follows Henri, a young boy who needs to get his best friend Hanna a birthday present. Kids can follow along with Henri as he makes his way from his bedroom all the way to the toy store, eventually giving his gift to Hanna at her birthday party.
Hanna & Henri is incredibly interactive and allows kids to create their own story. If a child makes a choice such as what Henri should wear or which gift he should pick out for Hanna, the story remembers the child’s choice the whole way through.

Personally I’ve never seen anything like this before in an interactive storybook app, and I absolutely love it!
Parents will be relieved to know that Hanna & Henri is free of advertisements, links, tracking functions, in-app purchases, and share functions. This means the chances of your child navigating away from the story are decreased dramatically.
That also means that Hanna & Henri is a safe environment for your child to read in.
Features
One thing I didn’t mention above is that Hanna & Henri reads just like educational stories that are geared toward young children who are learning important core skills.
The interactive storybook includes activities such as counting, recognizing shapes, and making important decisions. I can’t stress that enough that this interactive book is more than just words on illustrated pages. It’s very easy to get lost in the story even as an adult.
Hanna & Henri features narration to help your child follow along with the story. I found the narrator to be very clear and understandable even though the story is narrated in an accent.
Did I mention this app blew me away? Seriously, I think this adds a whole new dimension of awesome to the book. Lastly, Hanna & Henri is available in English and in Swedish.

Hanna & Henri can be downloaded from Google Play for $2.33, and this incredible interactive storybook is worth every penny. If you’re still not sure about the book, you can download the free version before buying the full version. Children and adults everywhere will certainly fall in love with this wonderful app, and it’ll definitely be your child’s favorite book to read!
