Tiny Invaders

Here at the Android Apps Review, we have a bit of a thing for arcade games. In fact, there’s hardly anything we enjoy more, save perhaps a good apple pie at Thanksgiving. However, the games we like usually don’t have quite as strange a premise as Tiny Invaders, from Mosquito Apps.

Then again, we’re not complaining. It’s a hilarious romp through the reproductive cycle with some tower defense action tossed in. If that sounds like something you could get into, then go ahead and scroll down below the break to see our whole review.

Concept and Gameplay

To describe the gameplay at work with Tiny Invaders, we’d first have to have the talk. However, we’re going to assume you’ve heard it at some point, and instead we’re going to focus on the Android bits.

You’ll be protecting the sweet ovum Ovulia from . . . er, invading spermatozas. To this, you’ll whack and splat them right on the screen. In this way, the game is very much like a tower or castle defense title.

You’ll get power-ups and rewards for doing well, in addition to achievements and the general recognition of your charge herself. It’s a fun mix, and with a wealth of options and materials at hand, it’s not likely to go stale any time soon.

The real draw here, though, is the hilarity. The invaders themselves are cute, endearing, abrasive and utterly funny. The “shock” value of the subject matter wears off quickly, but this doesn’t seem to affect the joy we continued to gain from Tiny Invaders itself. This is a truly entertaining game, and the solid gameplay is just a perk in a soup of time wasting potential.

Graphics and Design

Tiny Invaders

As stated before, it’s quite clear that the application’s developers have taken great pains to make the app as funny, cute and well-designed as possible. With these kinds of novel arcade apps, we usually have pretty low expectations. However, Tiny Invaders safely knocked us well out of the water. The game is clever, well-drawn, rewarding, and simple to control. All of these add up to real potential, as well as solid involvement from the devs.

With that in mind, we hope the game’s creators continue to be involved, adding more content, extra levels of difficulty, etc. As-is, the only thing Tiny Invaders is truly lacking is more content.

Overall Value

It’s also quite hard to knock Tiny Invaders in terms of value. The app is totally free in the Google Play Store, meaning you can have all it has to offer without any initial cost of entry.

And for that, as well as its solid design, we tip our hats to Tiny Invaders with a solid four and a half stars out of five. As the app grows and becomes even better, we can only expect more out of it.

Tiny InvadersTiny Invaders requires Android 2.1+ and up. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.

You may download Tiny Invaders from Google Play.
