Clashot
Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
A while back on our sister site, The iPhone App Review, we got to review the application Clashot from Clashot, Inc.
Now, the same title is heading to Android Land, bringing with it all of the same journalism redefining glory and money-making coding that it offered our Apple-Headed neighbors.
The application allows you to snap a photo of anything, and then immediately begin making money off the sale of that photo.
Sound like something you might could make a mint off? Then keep reading for our full review and a whole lot more of our not-so-humble thoughts!
Concept and Functionality
The core idea behind Clashot looks something like this: People are always looking for stock photography, so why not serve it up to them using the average user’s cellphone?
If you’re like us, you snag photos of just about anything when you’re out and about. Looking at your dog? Take a picture! Trying out new cars? Do the same! And that near constant cataloging is exactly what Clashot wants you to do.
Once you’ve added a photo to the service, it’s available on a global marketplace for anyone to buy. These rights are sold just like any other photograph, allowing for certain use restrictions and attribution.
When your picture is bought, you’ll get a cut of the proceeds. Those cuts add up overtime, and when you’re ready, you can cash out using popular services like PayPal. All things considered, it’s easy, quick and potentially quite rewarding.
Design and Implementation
However, we still have our misgivings about Clashot. It’s not the best-looking app we have ever seen. The developers have included items like built-in filters to get you rolling, but it’s nothing like the quality you’d see with free apps like Instagram. Still, those guys aren’t going to pay you for using your photos, now are they?
Though, we have yet to see real data on how much you can make with your photographs. Is it worth it to add yours to the stack? No idea. In fact, you may not turn a dime out of the process.
We highly doubt you’re going to get enough to retire off of, or even life off, but if you’re not bothered by that, then go right ahead.
Clashot is certainly designed well enough to get you where you need to be, and you’re guaranteed to make something off all this.
Overall Value
And after all, Clashot is completely free in the Android App Store, which makes it quite a bargain. Though, you’re adding photos to their service in the first place, so we’d expect it be free.
Regardless, it won’t harm you to have a go at, and if you like it—and if the pot is sweet enough—then tell us about it!
We’re eager to hear what you think about this new and inventive idea. After all, this may yet be the future face of public media.
Clashot requires Android 2.3+ and up. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
