There’s a specific genre of application that I’ve had a lot of experience with over the years—that’s all you’ll get out of me—and it’s that sort of app that lets you encounter, chat with and meet other people from around the world. You know the type: Put up a fake photo off the internet, talk to some strangers, and generally have a good time.
I’m kidding of course, but that’s more or less the experience that you’ll find here with Talk.io - Chat & Meet People. The app allows you to quickly, effortlessly, and simply meet others the globe over, and potentially have a blast doing it. It’s no Grindr (it doesn’t intend to be) but for those with a penchant for speedy conversation, it’ll get the job done.
Concept and Functionality

As stated, the idea behind Talk.io is relatively simple: You create an account with the application, post a photo of yourself (presumably, though we suppose you could present yourself as a barn, a duck, or Mickey Rourke) and then get to chatting with the application’s other users.
Before you dive into the global market, you can easily set whether or not you’re after conversation with males, females, or both. You can also specify an age range, a language of use, and a location. In this way, you can quite easily meet those whom you’d like to talk to—in a conversational, or romantic sense.
Actual conversations work much like you’d expect them to: You’ll get instant messaging, including emoticons to better convey your meanings. In addition, you can share photos, or use ice breakers to start chatter. It’s quick, efficient, and completely open. And at the end of the day, that’s what you’re after with this sort of thing.
Design and Safety
In terms of design and chat quality, we were actually quite surprised. Obviously Talk.io isn’t the most complex app in the Google Play Store, but it still needs to look good and behave well. And on both counts, it’s really quite amiable. The design isn’t bad, either, and we had no problems navigating all of its bounties.
That being said, we do have some safety concerns. For instance, you can specify age ranges starting at 13, which seems a might bit low to us. Granted, we want to assume that all intentions are pure and honest here, but we just can’t convince ourselves.
Stay safe, all of you, and don’t be the creeper or the creeped. It’s as simple as that.
Overall Value
At the end of the day, it really is hard to beat the value offered by Talk.io. After all, it’s completely free in the Play Store, which is quite a boon. And if you’re European and looking to mingle with your other continentals, it would appear you’ve got quite a lot of options to work with.
All of this just to say that Talk.io has a very specific purpose, and if you’re hip to it, you’ll be hip to it. And to those people, we say jump on it!
