Christmas with Trufo Jumper

Way back in the early days of the iPhone (Yeah, we remember when that whole thing kicked off) there was a single game that truly rocked the App Store. It was called Doodle Jump, and youngin’s, that’s about all we had. However, it was a lot of fun, and I still enjoy it.
Now, we have Christmas with Trufo Jumper, from AMDROID, on the Google Play Store. It’s a similar concept, but with a few caveats. Nevertheless, it delivers where you need to, and is a blast to play. For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break to check it out!
Concept and Gameplay
Christmas with Trufo Jumper
As stated, Christmas with Trufo Jumper is more or less a clone of that original Doodle Jump saga. Then again, that title wasn’t totally original itself, so we don’t hold it against today’s reviewee.
But what you’ll get is pretty close: You’ll start at the bottom of the level, and then slowly jump your way upwards. You’ll do this by tilting your Android phone from side to side to direct your protagonist.
Along the way you’ll need to dodge big bads, hit springboards, and land on the platforms—naturally. If you don’t do any of these things properly, it’s an immediate game over and you are toast!
Obviously there’s a lot of high score racking potential here, which speaks right to our very core. This is enhanced by G+ integrated leader boards and achievements. All of this speaks to the applications advantage, however, it’s not quite enough.
You see, Doodle Jump thrived on power ups, unique levels, and a lot of other assorted bells and whistles. Christmas with Trufo Jumper . . . not so much.
Still, the raw action is there, and we cannot deny that it’s still a lot of fun.
Design and Interface
The graphics aren’t much to write home about, sadly. Or, now that we think about it, really much to write about at all. They share an odd mixture of components, such as ye olden Mario graphics, as well as sort of “talking-character-app” human animations. It’s a bizarre mixture, and one that we’re not sure we’re entirely fond of.
We say we’re unsure, because that’s really about how we feel. It’s not great, but then again it’s not bad either. So when you break it down, you won’t feel oppressed by the graphics here. Nor will the extremely simple interface put you off. It’s just not phenomenal, or terribly unique.
Overall Value
Then again, it’s quite hard to argue with the price tag that Christmas with Trufo Jumper is supporting. It’s a solid nothing in the Play Store—yep, nothing!—which makes it quite a value for those with a budget in mind. And again, it’s a lot of fun.
So when you weight it all together, Christmas with Trufo Jumper is still worth checking out, especially for the arcade fanatic amongst us.
