Graphic Diary for Android

Over the years, we’ve seen more than our fair share of diary applications for the Android platform. We’ve seen ones that do everything from catalog your every waking thought to keeping a photo journal of your adventures. However, we have never quite seen one like Graphic Diary, from MoorlakGames.

The app removes the text part of your Dear Diary entries entirely, replacing them with something more akin to science homework. Not that we’re complaining: But you might still need to be quite a numbers geek to get into what’s offered here.

For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break! Starting with:

Concept and Functionality

As stated, the idea behind Graphic Diary goes against the very idea of journaling itself—at least as far as we used to understand it. We’ve since had our horizons broadened quite a bit.

Essentially, Graphic Diary allows you to add entries on a day-by-day basis. These entries can cover just about anything, but will typically be on the sort of thing you’d add to a diary regardless.

For instance, you can track your weight (down to specific areas), your sexual exploits (down to specific . . . err, activities), your medicines, and so on and so forth. You add each when you feel like it, and can then return to the application in the future to review your input.

Want to know what your daily life looks like in a series of graphs and charts? Now you can satisfy the itch!

For those of us that like these kinds of quantitative reviews, this might come as a blessing. However, we’re willing to consider the fact that this sort of thing isn’t likely for everyone.

Graphics and Design

At its core, Graphic Diary has a very strange, almost steam-punk edge to it. It’s a bizarre twist for the app, as it’s a bit cold in complexion. There’s lots of gelded dobs and bobs, which though pleasant enough, is certainly strange to behold next to some of your deepest, darkest, numerical secrets.

And really, that’s our only complaint with Graphic Diary. It’s a solid concept, if perhaps one that’s a bit . . . odd in execution. There’s a certain coldness to the procedure that we feel isn’t helping sell the concept the newcomers. Then again, it hardly inhibits the functionality itself, so if this is something you can look beyond, then power to you.

Overall Value

And at the end of the day, you won’t be coming here for the good looks. If a truly inventive and original diary application is what you’re looking for, then by all means, snag Graphic Diary now.

It’s truly out in a class of its own, and it works well enough to get the job done. And who knows! With future updates, maybe the developers will even hand out some marked interface updates.
