We don’t often get a chance to discuss it, but one of our foremost loves when it comes to Android gaming is the tycoon genre. If you give us a list of objectives, a wealth of buildings to construct, and some kind of pointless mission set to make money with, we will take it all to heart.

This is why we’re so stoked to be looking at The Terminal 2, from FrameLineNetwork, today. The game is a fine defense of the genre, and if you’re looking for a new such arcade game to wile away the hours with, it’s a solid recommendation.

For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break!

Concept and Gameplay

As stated, this is most certainly a tycoon style game. These titles were extremely popular back in the day, and they’ve had a recent resurgence thanks to mobile platforms. For those that somehow have never played SimCity, this is the breakdown:

You’ll start out as the owner of a small, regional airport. From there, you’ll start to collect different planes, slowly expanding your empire over time to include larger runways, bigger jets, longer routes, etc.

You’ll make money doing this, and it’s with that earned capital that you’ll slowly expand your empire. From the bottom to the top, you’ll work your way up to a vast international airport, making truckloads of money with each and every go.

That’s the idea, anyway! And for the most part, The Terminal 2 delivers. The game isn’t as focused on in-app purchases as most titles in the genre.

We imagine this is because you’re paying a small fee upfront ($1.00, give or take) and the additional nickels and dimes aren’t as important. We actually appreciate this a lot, as it solidly puts the focus on the gameplay itself.

Design and Graphics

We’ve heard complaints from other users of glitches and bugs within the game—some that even cause crashing—but we ourselves have yet to experience this. That being said, we’re sure the issues do exist with some users, so be sure to check requirements before playing.

Otherwise, the graphics are decent, and the controls could not be simpler. The art style here isn’t as modern as we might like, but it’s certainly not an eye sore. And the depth of the available units is appreciated, too.

All in all, it’s a well-designed game, if perhaps not the best-looking in the Google Play Store.

Overall Value

And at the end of the day, it’s hard to beat the value that The Terminal 2 is sporting. For only a dollar you can enjoy all that it has to offer, from regional to international. It’s a good deal, especially if you’re a fan of the genre like we are. Also, an added bonus is that the game is soon to be available for PC from Steam Greenlight.

All in all, The Terminal 2 earns a four and a bit star rating, plus our recommendation.
