1 In Space Free, developed by Eduard Ryabov, is an interesting space shooter game for Android. The graphics are impressive and gameplay shows great potential, although it’s currently a work in progress.
Concept and Gameplay
The first thing I noticed about 1 In Space Free was that the game menu was slightly confusing. The buttons are small, making it almost impossible to read what’s on them unless the brightness on your device is turned up quite a bit.
You can choose to control your spaceship using either a virtual joystick or by tilting your device. There are seven levels to play through, all of which must be unlocked progressively.
As far as gameplay, the controls in 1 In Space Free are very touchy and difficult to get used to. It’s almost impossible to see the control buttons on the screen because they blend in so well with the background of the map. This is incredibly frustrating, especially for someone who has never played the game before.

Overall, it’s easy to see that 1 In Space Free is meant to be a 3D space shooting game and it’s a very interesting start. However, there are simply too many flaws in design to make it actually fun to play. Plus, the game is missing quite a few basic necessities like scoring and enemy ship health bars. The best way to sum up my thoughts on the game is that it feels unfinished.
Features
Unfortunately it feels like 1 In Space Free is missing quite a few key features which would make it a great space shooter game. First, a variety of ships with different weapons and boosts would be perfect. This would help to keep things fresh and new for players.
Also, some sort of introductory tutorial or welcome page to tell players what the point of the game is would also be fantastic. I say this only because after playing 1 In Space Free for at least a couple of hours, I still have no idea what the three weapon buttons are on the left side of the screen, nor what the overall goal of the game is.

1 In Space Free is available to download from Google Play for free and is supported with ads. If you enjoy space games that have fantastic graphics, 1 In Space Free might be worth a shot. To be honest, though, graphics are really the only decent part about the game. If you have a lot of patience and you’re willing to work hard at mastering game mechanics, 1 In Space Free is worth the download.
