Shadoobie
Android Game Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
For today’s review of Shadoobie, from Harry Ehrlich, I’m going to scale things back to a very personal level—honestly, we essentially have to. Out of the other members of our lovely office, I’m the only one that hails from the sunny hippie hamlet that is Boulder, Colorado. Which means it goes without saying that an app entirely dedicated to providing weed smokers with a social network sounds just like home.
And that’s exactly what you’ll find here with Shadoobie. It is, as far as we know, the only mobile-based social media resource dedicated entirely to helping you share what you do while high.
If that’s something you can get behind (legally, we’d like to point out) then let’s roll up some papers below the break for a full review!
Concept and Functionality
As stated before, the entire premise of Shadoobie hinges on the fact that, when people are high, they typically want to share that experience with others. But what do you do if you’re a stoner in a small shack somewhere in Washington? It can be a lonely world indeed, which is why Shadoobie is such a useful utility.
To use the application, first sign up for an account. After that, you’re essentially done! Take a photo in-app to share it with your chosen community, and then rate how high you are. You can also leave small notes about your photo, in case they need some explaining.
Yes, as the title indicates, the sliding scale of highness goes to eleven. Really, it truly does. And we can’t get over how funny that is. Even sitting at a solid zero on said scale.
That’s really what makes Shadoobie more than just a novelty app. This truly is an application designed—presumably—by stoners for stoners. It’s a piece of work that’s not afraid to laugh at itself, or at its community. And in a lot of ways, that’s incredibly refreshing.
Design and Interface
We can confidently say that Shadoobie is the best-looking social media application available for Android users—not that there’s a big waiting line at the door for such apps. But still, this is a decently designed utility.
We liked the ease with which one can use Shadoobie. It takes only a few seconds to snap a new photo, and then throw it up to your community. There are several unique communities, as well. If you live in a state like Colorado where marijuana is sold legally, there’s a community for that. If you use for medicinal purposes, your people are here.
In other words, it’s not the most feature-rich of experiences, but there’s still a decent sense of camaraderie, and we appreciate that.
Overall Value
Shadoobie is one-hundred percent free, and available for both the Android PlayStore, and the iPhone App Store.
If you’ve been looking for something like this, or even if it just sounds like a fun addition to your typical . . . we’ll say routine, then go for it! Shadoobie is indeed a blast, and with lots of small, stoner-specific tweaks, there’s a lot to love.
Shadoobie requires Android 4.0 and up. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
