iCrosss
Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
Reviewed by Sarah Hanlon
iCrosss, from Oleh Yudin, is an incredibly useful app that’s perfect for anyone who is learning about shapes and helps you explore the world of geometry in a very visual way.
Concept and Functionality
The main purpose of iCrosss is to help folks learn about solid geometry through the use of interactive features. The app provides users with an extensive list of polyhedron shapes, from simple shapes like tetrahedrons and cubes to complex polyhedrons such as truncated octahedrons.
If all of this sounds like a foreign language, it’s pretty likely that iCrosss won’t really be beneficial to you. However, if you’re a geometry student, it’s definitely a useful tool.
The app even provides a handy tutorial for new users, which is activated by tapping the question mark at the top of the main menu.
iCrosss lets you interact with polyhedrons in a variety of ways, from breaking them up using cross-sections to rotating them along a defined plane.
Tapping on the star at the bottom of the screen while viewing a shape will save it as a favorite for easy access, as well.
In terms of use, iCrosss will likely stump new users at first, but you should be alright as long as you complete the tutorial and explore the app. It’s very intuitive once you get the hang of it, and you’ll be exploring and dissecting shapes in no time.
Features
iCrosss Android App
Perhaps the coolest feature iCrosss offers is the ability to change view modes to explore shapes in various ways.
This includes 3D mode, Épure (3 projections mode), and 3D cut mode. I was incredibly impressed to see just how interactive the app is as far as being able to truly explore shapes, and I’m sure geometry students will feel the same way.
There’s also the option of creating PDF and/or PNG file of your shape, as well as an incredibly useful “Info” page about the shape you’re working on. This includes a detailed description of the shape, as well as important mathematical formulas related to the shape itself.
Value
iCrosss is available to download from Google Play for $0.99, which is a fantastic price given the fact that the app provides a ton of educational information about geometry.
Overall, if you’re a math student who is actively working with polyhedrons, I definitely recommend checking out iCrosss as a learning supplement.
iCrosss requires Android 4.0.3+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
