It’s aways a challenge to stay in touch with those who matter most but let’s face it, it’s especially challenging in these times of “shelter in place”.
However, as usual, apps to the rescue!
But not just any app. To do it right, and not sacrifice your privacy in the process, you need the right app.
The best one is going to make it incredibly easy to communicate with those who matter most with as little fuss as possible. It will let you express yourself quickly, easily and in a way that makes using the app fun and enjoyable.
Marco Polo, with its built-in privacy, is the best multi-platform group video chatting service we’ve come across, bar none.
It checks off all the boxes and even adds one that makes it stand apart from lesser competitors such as Skype and Zoom.
It’s a well-designed and easy-to-use app that focuses on privacy and makes connecting with those you care about fun, incredibly easy, and stress free.
Unlike traditional video messaging apps where you have to rely on people being available all at the same time, Marco Polo is quite flexible and lets you leave a video message instead of just an indication that you tried to reach them.
Concept and Functionality
Signing up for Marco Polo, a free app by Joya Communications, is incredibly easy and since it requires a cell phone number, you’re assured that you’ll only be contacted by people you know.
As far as privacy goes, this is one social networking app that takes it very seriously. Right in their Privacy Principles they state that they will not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. Very refreshing!
In fact, while it may seem like a strange concept at first, they will only connect you with people who either already have your number in their phone’s address book, are in a group with you, or you specifically invited to join you to Marco Polo.
Features
Of all Marco Polo’s great features, though, the one we love best is the fact that you can easily leave someone a video message and there are no limits on the length of your message.
So say goodbye to phone tag or texting someone to tell them you just tried to FT them but couldn’t get through.
The beauty of the asynchronous nature of the app is that you can talk to someone anytime day or night regardless of their time zone, or time schedule they’re on. They’ll watch it when they can and later they can record a lengthly video message back to you.
Another feature that is considered a “gotta have” these days is live group video sessions and, of course, Marco Polo has that.
From a family perspective, this app is perfect. Complete privacy coupled with the ability to record messages means that your family is connected no matter where anyone may be or what device they have. This is not only an Android app, though, it’s also an iPhone app.
With Marco Polo there are no worries. You don’t have to worry about phone charges since it works on wifi, you don’t have to worry about devices since it’s available for both iPhone and Android, you don’t have to worry about everyone of the group call being available at the same time since if someone can’t make it they can watch the recording, and you don’t have to worry about the call being ‘bombed’, since you have to have someone’s number to invite them to join the call.

Marco Polo is available to download for free from the Play Store. There are no ads or in-app purchases, which makes this a completely free app to use and enjoy.
Overall, we highly recommend Marco Polo. It’s an incredible app for one-to-one or group video calls with lots of added benefits.
