Office Jerk: Building Team Spirit One Stapler Toss At A Time

At long last. the runaway iPhone hit Office Jerk has finally landed in the Android Market. The app slash entertainment piece by Fluik has everything you need to waste hours of your time throwing staplers, cupcakes, pencils, erasers, golf balls, and much, much more. Gameplay

At times it feels like Office Jerk Android app is less of a game and more of a stress-reliever. The app has you playing as a lowly office worker paired with yet another cubicle rat. Your coworker works tirelessly while you look on from your desk. Obviously you can’t let him keep at his job, so you’re tasked with throwing nearby objects across the room to distract, maim, injure, and annoy him. This means you’re free to toss the stapler at his monitor, shove a pencil in his forehead, or even bathe his face in creamy pie. You get at least a point for every time you hit your coworker, and Office Track counts how many points you obtain in a row, adding a certain carrot-on-a-stick element to the game.

As it is, the gameplay offered in Office Jerk Android app is extremely entertaining. My favorite pastime was lobbing the stapler into my buddy’s computer. However, there are no levels, power-ups, or death-matches to keep you entertained: How much joy Office Jerk gives strictly depends on you—or how bad your day at work was.

Design

One of the coolest things about Office Jerk is its stellar design. The animations, down to the expressions on your coworker’s face, are top-notch and very evocative. The art-style conjures up thoughts of a perfect Pixar/Aardman Studios mix. The object-tossing physics are spot-on as well, and the objects offered are ingeniously wicked. Though the game is hardly a sandbox feature, you are free to lob things about as you wish, leading to some interesting combinations. Having the freedom to break a monitor, make your coworker turn around by thumping him on the shoulder with a pencil, and then land a pie in his face is freedom at its purest—and most hilarious. The developers have obviously spent a lot of time trimming and perfecting Office Jerk, and the end result is a unique app that shines from the care its been given.

Overall Fun and Value

Office Jerk comes in a free variety with an healthy number of objects, but there’s also a non-ad supported version for a dollar. The plus edition comes with more objects to hurl. At the end of the day, Office Jerk may not be something you play daily, or even weekly, but having it around for a stressful day or a quick commute is a must. This game is a Friday afternoon with a Christmas bonus.
