My Android app review found that Mogwee is supposed to be the latest and greatest when it comes to chat apps. You know the type. Where you can connect to select groups of friends in private conversations. The thing with the Mogwee Android app is that it was supposed to take this kind of Android app and amp it up to the next level. It was supposed to be something fun and different that I would instantly love and never want to part with.

I WANTED to love this Android app. But I can’t, because I just don’t think that its quite ready yet.

Features

When you first start to learn about Mogwee, you get excited. I mean, who doesn’t love the idea of being able to have the kind of multi-faceted conversations shown in the nifty little Mogwee promotional video? Looks like a blast! But that nifty little promotional video in the Android Market fails to mention that many of the features it shows aren’t actually part of the Mogwee Android app just yet. They are in development and, so far, there is no set date as to when they will become available to the average user.

So, until they get things up and running we’ll just have to make do with chat, chat and more chat!

Without the extras Mogwee is a chat app and nothing more. Truly it needs these promised features to make it something that stands out from the pack and shines as a new generation of Android star.

Functionality

In terms of functionality the Mogwee Android app chimes in with a nice solid boring. It works, it just doesn’t work great. Actually it works quite slowly. No force closes, and no all out freezing, but Mogwee is one app that could benefit from a nice shot of Red Bull for Android.

Also, the permission are a bit on the steep side. There are even a few that are usually deal breakers when it comes to what I am willing to load on my Android device. Basically I want better functionality and less permissions. That’s not asking much…right?

Fun Factor

Here’s the thing with the Mogwee Android App. The potential for greatness is here, its just a few good updates down the road. Am I willing to hang around and wait until Mogwee gets its act together? I haven’t decided yet. Probably not through. Most likely this is one Android app that will end up deleted while I wait to revisit it at a later date. If they can turn potential into reality, then they will have a fan for life.

If not?

Well, as I said before. There are plenty of other chat app out there for me to check out.
