Turn watching television programming into a plugged in experience with the IntoNow Android app from Yahoo! Inc. I can’t remember how many times I’ve been watching an episode of a TV show or movie and had a question about an actor or some other factoid.
Usually this scenario sends me rummaging for my lap top or tapping frantically into my phone’s search engine looking for answers. But no more. The IntoNow Android app links you to televised content in a whole new way. Hold onto your butts, this is going to be an awesome Android app review.
Features

IntoNow
To use the IntoNow Android app, point your phone at television and tap the green button. After several seconds the IntoNow Android app will populate information about the show, episode or movie, with direct links to IMDb and additional details.
I thought this was a gag app at first. So I sat myself in front of the tube and pushed the button. I was watching a movie on one of HBO’s channels. Premium content. It’ll never know this!
In seconds the app told me I was watching The Hangover, and so were a lot of other people. I was so flabbergasted I nearly dropped my Android.
Not only does this app save you time looking up details about shows and movies, it has a pretty rocking social interface as well.
Social Factor
IntoNow Android app lets you add friends via email, Facebook and Twitter, and allows you to update those social networks with your current viewing if you desire. Keeping up with friends, commenting and recommending is easy breezy.
This app is a great way to make watching TV a social activity again. I definitely think this app gets extra points for helping us socialize in a brand new way.
User Interface

IntoNow
I briefly mentioned the green button that you push to begin scanning content into the app. That is by far the most amazing piece of the IntoNow Android app’s UI, however the rest of it is pretty sweet too.
The app is broken up into three tabbed sections: activity, popular and profile. The activity section lets you keep up with the viewing habits of your friends, and everyone else using the app. A little green light next to a post means that the show they are watching is on right now. So you can use the app as your own personal good TV meter if you want.
The popular tab shows stats from recent programming, and the profile area lets you manage your own settings. I cannot stress how easy this app is to use. It’s amazing.
Value
I think any app that enhances the intrinsic entertainment value of things that already amuse me is pretty cool. The original idea, brilliant user interface and set of social interaction of the IntoNow Android app only make it that much butter.
Did I mention that this magically little app is free? Um, yeah. It’s FREE. Enough said.
