Strap in for one fast paced ride with Supersonic. This tunnel racer game takes me right back to Tron, in a good way.
If you’re ready for a rush, clue in to my Android app review of Supersonic.
Gameplay
Supersonic
In the Supersonic Android app you navigate through tunnels of brilliant light, turning your Android from side to side to avoid bad objects and collect good objects. It’s a simple yet exciting app.
As soon as you open the Supersonic Android app, it suggests using headphones while you play for optimal enjoyment. That’s because each level is synced up with kicking techno tracks from the Finnish artists collective Kitkaliitto. These are some seriously pumping tunes.
There are two game modes, classic and blitz. In classic mode you collect blue gems to earn points, get boosts and unlock special modes where you can collect higher point items. Avoid the mines, they reset your boost calculator, and do not hit the walls. Hit a wall and you are done.
Blitz mode has walls as well which reset your boost calculator, but do not kill you. The idea here is to make it as far as possible as fast as possible, before the clock runs out. There are two meters on the sides of the screen that fill as you collect gems. Special time boosts and credits can be earned once you collect five gems in a row.
There are other apps out there that are similar to the Supersonic Android app, such as Speedx, but I like the shifting neon colors and custom techno tracks of Supersonic better.
User Interface

Supersonic
The majority of this app is all about the accelerometer. Some users have mentioned that their sensitivity seems off, but that is something you can control with your Android’s settings. I didn’t have any issues but I play a lot of games so my touch sensitivity is just where I like it.
Other screens have a swipe to access style that is easy to use and uncomplicated.
Graphics & Design
I already praised the bright, neon color scheme, but I do want to mention that each level has slightly different styled tunnels and animations. The entire screen shifts and swirls and pulses with life constantly.
It’s obvious that some really dedicated professionals put time and effort into creating the Supersonic Android app, and I really dig the results. Graphics are tight, interesting and fast.
Value
Like many of my favorite Android apps, Supersonic is available in the An
droid Market for free. That’s right. All that awesome action and a Technicolor light show for nada.
This addictive, adrenaline pumping game just earned itself a permanent spot on my Android. If you love techno, racing games or even have a thing for Tron, get Supersonic. You’ll love it.
