The SportCaster Android app plugs you in to the football season via Twitter and you don’t even have to have a Twitter account to enjoy all the content.
Top sports analysts, players, fans and more have their feeds plugged directly in to this app. You can even select which games to follow, tap into fantasy league chatter, view team standings, game schedules and use some Twitter functions right from the app.
That means you get real time access to the game in a whole new way.
My favorite feature is the social scoreboard, where you can choose a match up to keep track of tweets from both teams throughout the game. Now when you see players on the sidelines typing away on their phones, you see their Twitter updates as they happen. You can’t get much closer than that.
User Interface
SportCaster
The UI on the SportCaster Android app is an absolute design touchdown. SportCaster organizes data in five main sections: conversation, schedules, scores, standings and fantasy. These sections are easy to access from the app’s home page. One touch and you’re good to go.
You can also access any of the app’s other sections or navigate easily back to SportCaster’s home page by tapping the top of the screen. A small bar with icons for each section pops up instantly.
Well organized content, easy controls and a seamless user experience are just more reasons to love the SportCaster Android app.
Value
At launch, SportCaster only supports NFL and NCAA football coverage. However developers plan on expanding that content as baseball, hockey and basketball seasons start.
SportCaster is an original concept that puts more information in fans hands without any hassle. It’s also a great way to keep up with the leagues, stats and more. I can’t even think of a way to improve this app, other than adding more sports and developers are already on top of that.
Oh, and did I mention that the SportCaster Android app is completely free? Sure, there’s a random ad or two in the app, but I couldn’t be happier with the pricing and the quality of this app.
Functionality
Despite the skimpy price tag, the SportCaster Android app performs perfectly. Each menu, feed, setting and bracket loads perfectly the first time, every time.
I gave this app a work out, and had half a dozen friends download it. No one had a complaint. I had trouble getting a few friends to answer my questions. It turns out they were too engrossed in the fantasy football Twitter feed to even thank me for suggesting the app.
Bottom line? Every sports fan needs this app. So go get it.
