Disarmingly darling graphics and frantic gameplay action come together in the Muffin Knight Android app, a platform style game where you must save the muffins.
Gameplay
Muffin Knight
Our Android app review revealed Muffin Knight to be an extremely high quality game. You take the part of the Muffin Knight, a little boy who agrees to help a fairy collect her missing muffins.
Along the way angry beasts and one seriously wicked boss barrage you. Thankfully a magical enchantment turns you in to a different hero every time you collect a muffin. It’s your job to leap from platform to platform, defeating bad guys and earning points to unlock additional characters, abilities and boards.
The Muffin Knight Android app supports single player mode and a cross platform multi player mode where you can see how you compare to friends, even if they don’t have Android devices.
Challenging levels and randomized assaults from a myriad of evil monsters keep Muffin Knight perpetually exciting. This game has me seriously hooked.
Graphics & Design
Muffin Knight
Graphically, the Muffin Knight Android app is brilliant. Hand drawn graphics are bright, sharp and smooth. I was really impressed with how good this app looks. Each of the game’s 15 characters is fully illustrated with unique attack graphics and motions.
Muffin Knight is optimized for Xperia play, but looks great on other Android devices well. The better your screen’s resolution, the better this app is going to look.
User Interface
On screen controls include two directional arrows tucked in the lower left-hand corner, a jump button and an attack key. I did have an issue with the pause screen randomly popping up when I went to push the lower keys.
However, there is a handy setting in the Muffin Knight Android app’s options that lets you move the game controls around. I love this feature. It makes the UI so personal. Extra brownie points (or should I say muffin points?) for having a truly customizable game user interface.
Value
Downloading the Muffin Knight Android app will run you $2.99 from the Android Market. It’s worth it. Usually I have something snarky to say about Android apps that aren’t free, but this time I am entirely tongue tied.
I do resent the perpetual Open Feint plugs at the bottom of the screen, but they go away during actual game play so I can let it slide, just this once.
Bottom line: if you want to play a superior quality game on your Android, make it Muffin Knight. The insanely cute characters, banging graphics and fast-paced gameplay are top notch.
