DarkMaze Android App Review

DarkMaze

During our Android app review of DarkMaze we found there are quite a few things to be afraid of in the dark here at Android Apps Review.

This game would be an amazing and challenging puzzle app with the lights on. There are twists, turns, bumps and all kinds of projectiles, lasers and spikes to avoid. You control a small marble with your Android’s accelerometer. There are no on screen controls. So this app is certainly tricky.

So imagine all of that, then try doing it in the dark, with a little bubble of light around you that barely shines far enough to know what you’re about to roll in to.

That is some serious trickery, and it makes the game far more intense than it would be in the light of day.

I applaud the wide variety of mazes, seemingly endless boosts and baddies and the developer’s great idea. Achievements and a fun sound track round out the app. This game is addictive and a lot of fun, sure to challenge even gamers with the steadiest hands.

DarkMaze Android App Review

DarkMaze

To keep you on track, the DarkMaze Android app has an accelerometer calibration integrated into the app. Even with a custom calibration, it is extremely easy to die in this game. It could use an option to adjust the app’s sensitivity as well.

Despite being a bit touchy, the DarkMaze app functions quite well. An initial issue with level design was resolved quite quickly through an app update. I did not experience any app crashes or other issues playing the game.

Layout & Design

Since there are no on screen controls, the DarkMaze Android app makes extremely good use of the screen. If you wish to exit a level you must use your Android’s native home and back buttons. A pause button would have been a nice touch and I hope they work one in to a future update.

Design wise, since you don’t really see a lot it’s hard to even say. Maze designs are utilitarian and straightforward, but not unpleasant.

Value

For a free download I think the DarkMaze Android app delivers a really fun game package with minimal issues and a lot of heart pounding game play. This game is challenging.

Be prepared to deal with a handful of annoying ads, but otherwise consider DarkMaze a home run for a little harmless Android fun.
