If you long for the slow grind of traditional fantasy RPGs such as Morrowind and Oblivion, get ready for a little piece of Android heaven.
The Earth and Legend Android app translates some of the features of traditional RPGs to a mobile format. We hope you’re ready to embark on the mystical journey that is our Android app review of Earth and Legend.
Gameplay

Earth and Legend
Fans of the genre will recognize the type of game the Earth and Legend Android app is instantly. Your job is to complete quests and travel the world defeating evil creatures in the name of good. Fish for food, arm yourself for battle, apply skill points to unlock spells, attacks and buffs, and generally walk the ground like the god that you are.
Yes, Earth and Legend is definitely a fantasy RPG, but I wouldn’t call it a full-fledged RPG. There is no craft functionality and despite many quests it’s actually a pretty quick game to beat. There’s an unfortunately small range of gear options and accessories.
Also, class building is entirely self-directed, and there are no special quests or drops for focusing on melee, archery or magic.
Now on the good stuff. Earth and Legend can become a multiplayer game over Wi-Fi. So if a friend has the game and is nearby this game can get a lot more exciting. Unfortunately there is no online play option to join games with users in other locals.
Other interested features include the in-game weather (you’ll get caught out in the rain for sure) and the 24-minute day cycle that keeps the game moving.
Layout & Design

Earth and Legend
On-screen controls for the Earth and Legend Android app include a translucent joystick circle in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, main menu access, health and mana indicators in the upper left-hand corner, and rotating action keys in the lower right-hand corner.
Depending on your Android device, the screen can get a little tight, especially when one of the main actions you do is picking up articles off the ground. Even after days of game play it was a constant annoyance to have to position my character just so to be able to pick up loot.
Also, the lack of a general attack button is a bit annoying. It’s way too easy to tap on the rotate skills key instead of the correct key, causing me to endure an untimely death more than once.
The graphics were also a bit disappointing. This game’s trailer has much better graphics than the actual game did on my phone.
Value
Despite all my nitpicking, I have a special place in my heart for Earth and Legend. It is so like older PC RPGs that I played the heck out of it and enjoyed it quite a bit.
That being said, the Earth and Legend Android app does need some work, and it is a bit pricey. At $6.99 (which is probably more than I’ve ever paid for an Android app) I expected a bit more.
