Top Girl: Android Written App Review
While we love all the action, driving and puzzle apps here at Android Apps Review, it’s nice to take a break from all that manly gaming sometimes and try on something a little more girly for a change. And the new Top Girl app from Crowdstar Inc definitely fits the bill. This lady-like title is one part RPG, two parts dress up party. Find out how to claw your way to the top with our Android app review of Top Girl.

If the title sounds familiar, it might be due to Top Girl’s success on iOS. However, we know that apps don’t really count until they’ve made their Android debut. So how does Top Girl rank?
In Top Girl you’ll navigate the life of a model on the rise. Your life will consist almost exclusively of shopping, working and dating. It’s all about the impression, so while you might like to date for love, in this game it’s more about what your potential beaus can do for you.
Dress up apps hold some serious appeal for female gamers, especially young female gamers. The fantasy aspect is quite alluring, and Top Girl delivers with fun accessories and outfits. That being said, this game sends a pretty shallow message to girls. Where’s Top Girl’s option to go to school or do charity work? We’d love to see the app expand to include more positive themes.
Also, Top Girl starts asking you to spend money pretty quickly. So, even though the app is free to download, if you want to make any progress or even finish the first few quests, you’re going to have to shell out some dough. Be prepared for a bit of sticker shock.
Functionality

It would also be nice if Top Girl worked properly on the Android platform. As with so many iOS ports, the Top Girl app has some serious functionality issues on Android, even when they’re running the required OS version. The game is perpetually slow at loading scenes, freezes constantly and can be extremely frustrating to try to play.
We wouldn’t mind giving the app a fairly good rating, if only it worked. There are tons of reviews corroborating our testing results, so it’s quite unfortunate, but a lot of users are experiencing the same gaming issues we are.
Layout & Design
Top Girl has some attractive graphics, and we’re especially fond of the fun (and expansive) outfit and cosmetic options in the game. The main app makes good use of the Android’s screen, tucking options and goals at the bottom of the screen. If you’re uncertain about where to go on a particular scene, remember the app supports side scrolling and what you’re looking for might be hidden on another part of the screen.
Overall Value
Due to some thematic imbalance and a ton of app issues, we cannot recommend adding Top Girl to your app list. If it ran properly we’d feel better recommending it, at least for older users who just want to play dress up and get a taste of glamour. Fix your app, folks. It’s not worth installing something that slows down your entire phone.
