Rails
Android Game Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
Rails, developed by Belight Software, will put you in command of your own rail system. This official remake of Shortline Railroad will be a huge hit with players who enjoy a great challenge!
Concept and Gameplay
From the minute I opened the game, I could tell Rails would be a pleasure to play. Sharp graphics and a wonderfully organized interface make it very easy to navigate your way through the game.
The idea of Rails is to construct your own railway system, consisting of multiple trains and stations.
It’s your responsibility to not only build railroad tracks, but to also safely guide a variety of trains to their respective stations.
As you complete levels, you’ll advance in years and you can watch as the designs of trains and stations change to reflect the era.
Rails offers players 12 different trains to control, each with their own type of cargo. From vigilante trains that can’t be stopped to trains with ticking time bombs on board, the life of a railroad traffic controller is a hectic one.
Players will enjoy 60 different levels of gameplay spread across 3 seasons, and each level will get progressively more difficult than the last. One thing I will say is that Rails is definitely a game of trial and error, so don’t be afraid to hit the reset button if you happen to get stuck while laying tracks.
New players will love to know that Rails offers a very detailed tutorial that will help familiarize them with the inner workings of the game.
This includes learning how to lay tracks to connect stations, guide trains, and use boosts and bonuses to your advantage.
The beginner tutorial is definitely one of the most detailed and thorough tutorials I’ve seen in any Android game, and I did find that I became burnt out after awhile.
Features
Rails is much more than just laying down train tracks and watching trains chug along from point A to point B. To help players, the game includes six different bonuses. From a speed boost to instant wreck cleanup, each boost should help players advance through the world of Rails.
Players who enjoy collecting achievements will love the fact that Rails offers 30 unique achievements to unlock. Seeing as there are 60 levels to complete, there are plenty of opportunities to earn achievements
Value
Rails is available to download from Google Play for free, which is an absolute steal considering the amount of content included in the game. Overall, this fantastic remake of a 90’s classic is perfect for anyone who’s looking for a fun simulator/strategy game.
Rails requires Android 3.0+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
