Android Game Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
When Flappy Bird took the gaming world by storm it moved the needle on how difficult a game could be and still be popular.
Granted Flappy Bird was about twitch reflexes, speed, and control, but nonetheless since then every so often a game comes along that you just can’t beat no matter how many times you try.
FiredUp is an incredibly challenging puzzle game for Android that will definitely test your patience whilst you grunt and groan trying to better your score. Playing against AI has never been so challenging and irritating.
If you thrive on a good challenge though, this game is definitely for you.
Concept and Gameplay
The goal of FiredUp, Developed by The FiredUp Project, is to take turns igniting matches to eliminate them from the screen. You can choose to ignite one match or an entire row. The last person to ignite a match loses the game.
While this might sound like a fairly straightforward puzzle, the idea behind it leaves very little opportunity for real players to beat an artificial mind.
You see, no matter what move you start out with or proceed to make, it’s seemingly impossible to force the AI to make the last move. It’s completely possible that I’m puzzle challenged, but FiredUp is awfully difficult for a casual game. Can you do better than I did? Check it out and let me know in the comments below.
I definitely think the game would be infinitely better if you could play against a real person, even if it’s just passing your device to the person next to you. I feel like this would give players much better odds of winning.
Features
Unfortunately FiredUp is a bit limited on features. For example, it doesn’t look like the puzzle board ever changes from the standard pyramid shape. After trying to beat the computer for the 10th time, I found that gameplay was becoming a bit redundant.
One cool feature of FiredUp is score tracking. These statistics can be accessed from the main menu and shows the overall number of games you played, as well as the number of games you’ve won.
Value
FiredUp is available to download from Google Play for free. An occasional ad will pop up, but it’s nothing that takes away from the gameplay experience.
Overall, FiredUp has the potential to become a great puzzle game. However, I definitely feel like it needs difficulty options, different shapes, or some type of multiplayer functionality in order for it to become even better, top-shelf Android puzzle game.
FiredUp: Nim Puzzle Game requires Android 4.0+.
