One of the most popular genre of games is “endless runner”. These games are exemplified by such hits as Temple Run and Subway Surfer.

While endless runners are typically not violent like first-person shooters, in general they are also not specifically targeted at female players.

We’re happy to offer our readers a review of an exception to this trend.

Princess Sofia Adventure Unicorn Game for Girls is an excellent new entry into the endless runner space that brings the fun of these games to the often overlooked audience of young female players.

Available for free and compatible with most Android devices, this game is designed to delight adventure-loving young girls.

Despite its long name, Princess Sofia Adventure Unicorn Game for Girls, by app365sotore, is actually a very simple game that young players will have fun with right away.

It features a nice variety of game styles that are similar to some very popular games that you’re sure to be familiar with. In keeping with the target audience, players in this app will probably find that figuring out how to play the game will take no time at all.

Running forward to collect the good things while jumping (tapping the screen) to avoid obstacles will come naturally to many kids already familiar with other running-style games.

What separates this game from the myriad of other similar game-play options, however, is its targeted gender audience; while most other games are gender neutral or feature male characters, this Princess Sofia Adventure app is specifically designed with princess-loving little girls in mind.

The actual flow of gameplay with the app is decent overall. “Levels” have moderately increasing difficulty throughout the game and are fairly short, which will no doubt appeal to its intended young audience.

Appearance and Layout:

Princess Sofia is a children’s game. As such, the graphics are fairly simple and justifiably so; most children aren’t looking for very detailed visuals in their Android app games.

Still, the simple graphics aren’t anything particularly impressive; they work for the game, but they’re nothing to work up much excitement about.The layout of this app is similarly simple, but this simple layout does serve to help make the app perfectly accessible for children to navigate.

Overall, the developers clearly paid attention to creating an interesting and fun storyline for this app but they did not seem to spend as much time on its appearance. It is definitely passable, especially for the intended audience, but there’s also room for improvement in future updates.

Value:

As mentioned previously, Princess Sofia Adventure Unicorn Game for Girls is a free app. Because of this low “price,” parents may easily be attracted to trying out this app for their young ones.

However, they should be forewarned that, as with many free games, a high number of in-app ads will pop up throughout the game. While these interruptions are fairly minimal in hindering the flow of the game (since they pop up after completing a level or after a failed attempt), they might be worrisome for parents who want to know what ads their children are seeing (and potentially clicking on).

We’d like to see an IAP to remove ads or a paid version of this game that foregoes ads so this concern can be avoided altogether.

Still, despite the frequent ads, the overall value of this app is pretty good; the graphics are colorful and the fun storyline serves its promised purpose well.
