Meeting someone new can be challenging for anyone, but what if you could find out if someone you already know is interested in you?
Am I Loved? is a free app by Am I Loved Developer that uses your phone contacts to track if someone is mutually interested in you.
Concept and Functionality
The idea behind Am I Loved? is actually pretty cool. It lets you query your contacts who are already in your phone for romantic interest instead of trying to connect with new people in a dating pool.
Afterall, it’s a pretty common romcom plot that in the end the person looking for love finds out their soul mate is someone they’ve known all along. If this idea is appealing to you, jump right in.
Simply select a contact and hit “Confirm” to acknowledge your interest in them. After a set number of mutual confirmations, you can receive a notification telling you that the other person is just as interested in you. Of course for this to work all parties involved need to have the app installed on their phone.
Unfortunately, the vast number of permissions you must grant to Am I Loved? might be enough to deter you from using the app. While installing the app to test it I counted 10 different windows to click through, many which caused the app to freeze. (Editor’s note: the developer explanation is that the app just asks for two permissions: contacts and external storage, also user is forced to enter his birth date, all other screens are mostly informative and to setup app.)
Dating apps are so popular that any sort of breakthrough idea might be enough to catapult a new app to the top of the boards, but I’m having a very difficult time understanding the goal the Am I Loved? is aiming for.
It seems like there are simply too many hoops to jump through while trying to answer the question of whether someone is interested in you romantically, especially someone who is already in your phone as a contact.
Features
One feature you can enable “Hidden Mode”, which means disguising Am I Loved? as a flashlight and setting up a password/secret question in order to access the app. Am I Loved? is opened while hidden mode is on, it will function like a flashlight app by illuminating the screen until you quickly tap the screen 7 times.
It’s worth noting that the app already shows up as “Flashlight” in your apps list, but you can conceal the app on your device as a flashlight if you’re using it in secret.
There’s also a “Fast Quit” mode that you can enable in case you’re worried about someone catching you while using Am I Loved?.
Value
Am I Loved? is available to download from Google Play for free and contains ads. There’s no way to disable them but they aren’t terribly intrusive.
Overall, I think Am I Loved? is an interesting concept with significant potential. But it needs a bit of work before it can be a truly viable widespread dating app.
I realize it’s supposed to be a subtle way of communicating romantic interest in someone you already know, but that means telling that person to download it, which makes the connection not so subtle, or relying on the slim chance that the other person already has the app installed on their phone, too.

Hello, I’m the creator of the app, I’d like to explain one pair of things:
1) I just ask for two permissions in app: contacts and external storage, also user is forced to enter his birth date, all other screens are mostly informative and to setup app, so the user can get how app works from installations and start it the most accordingly possible to how is wished.
2) About objective… Yes, surely you may start a relationship with someone by using standard dating apps, but you may get cheated in less than one month since you started the relationship, you may find that the other person just wanted your money, you may find the other person just wanted to have sex with you and all he told was lies… This app tries to help with that.
I mean, its name indicates its main purpose (as much as that is possible with an Android app) to know if you really are loved or if the person is just playing an act to fulfill his/her selfish motto.
