CamerLender is an ingenious way to get the photo you need or for you to take photos or videos for others and be rewarded for it.

Whether you need a photo or video taken for you in a remote location, or you’re willing do it for someone else, you can benefit from this app.

Developed by Spanish-based developers, CamerLender.io, CamerLender is a crowdsourcing, personalized media app that lets its users remotely view a place, event, or anything at a certain location and time and rewards the users who let them do so through their device.

Features

CamerLender is a unique app that features an interesting approach to crowdsourcing media that is as ingenious as it is promising.

Users who want to see how something (like an event, restaurant, hotel room, etc.) looks now can create a Task in CamerLender. You then specify the exact conditions you want the photo or video to have, and indicate an incentive to complete the task.

These conditions can be things like location, timing, direction of viewing, duration, etc. Other users can then view the requested Task and choose to Accept or Reject it.

To create a Task, users simply tap-and-hold on a location on the in-app map, choose between filling out the simple Task form or the Detailed Task form (which includes more precise options for specific shots), and offer a cash payment or an amount of Tokens as a reward to whoever completes it.

By Accepting a Task, the Task completer will be rewarded with a payment of real money (USD or Euros) via PayPal or via Bitcoin/Litecoin/Ethereum, or virtual Tokens, the in-app currency used instead of money. Virtual Tokens let users create and fulfill each other’s tasks without using real money.

Once you open the app you can login with Google+, Twitter or Facebook. Then you select Create New Task and you’ll be shown 10 screens that will give you all the info you need to get started. A more thorough tutorial can be found under the App Guide section in the app.

Back at the main screen you’ll see the map where you can browse around and look at various tasks or make our own tasks.

The first step in creating a task to have a photo or video taken is to long-click on where you want it done. We’d like to see other ways to indicate a location, such as using a street address, POI name, etc.

Once a task is set you can only share or delete it. There is no way to edit it. So, if you are not getting the attention you’d like and you want to increase the incentive, you have to delete it and re-enter it. That’s an easy fix that we’d like the dev to make.

Appearance and Layout

CamerLender has a very simple appearance as it uses Google Maps for its base layer and simply designates tasks via different colored points.

The layout is a little more advanced than simply user-friendly as some of the task options could be confusing to a casual user but altogether the app is easy to navigate.

Value

CamerLender is free to download. A variety of promotions are currently active. For example, the first 5,000 users receiving 1,000 virtual Tokens for free. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any way to purchase more vTokens.

The developer has speculated on their website that in the future they might add live video as well as a way to withdraw those virtual points for real-world currency which would certainly be a nice convenience.

Overall, CamerLender is an exciting concept that is well worth the download and represents a new business model. Rather than post what you can do for people, as with Fiverr, you post what you want done by someone else.

It may well be the first step in opening up an untapped market of demand-based peer-to-peer services.
