Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
If you’ve ever tried to learn or teach someone else basic electronics by using actual components and wires you know what a chore it can be. Of course it’s incredibly rewarding but getting there can be a challenge.
How about using that powerful computer you have on your desk to eliminate the hassle and get right to the good stuff?
There’s no doubt that kids love to learn and “playing” with physics, chemistry, electronics and science in general can be quite motivating to a young mind.
There have always been numerous ways to have fun with electronics with kits but a total game changer is the CRUMB app coupled with the simulation capacity of your Android phone or tablet.
You can always go shopping for components and gear on Amazon or Ebay but why? Your Android phone, and smartphones more broadly, today contain an incredible array of compute capability and sensors that would make a high school science lab of just 10 years ago very jealous.
Concept and Functionality:

CRUMB is an incredible electronics lab simpulation app that will catapult your electronics knowledge to a whole new level. Crank it up and get started on a fantastic journey discovering the amazing world of electronics, step by step, with all the right piece parts you need for every experiment, prototype and project.
Developed by Vital Group Ltd., CRUMB is invaluable as an introduction to the amazing and lucrative world of electronics and provides the perfect balance of entertainment and education.
We’ve chosen to review this app on an Android phone rather than a tablet because we think that would be more typical of how our loyal reader would experience it. That said, if you have an Android tablet don’t hesitate to use it, you’ll appreciate the graphs and reports even more with the larger screen.
You may not believe that your phone, the size that it is, can be an adequate electronics prototyping tool. Of course a tablet would give you a larger workspace but don’t denigrate what a well designed UI can accomplish with little real estate.
When you open the app you’ll see some of the 3D realistic components that you access to. Not all of the components you need are right at hand but take it from us, once you spend a little time traipsing around you’ll soon know exactly where to get that part you need to complete your circuit.
The app leverages the theoretical math of electronic circuits to be able to tell you exactly what the result of your circuit will be. Don’t believe it? Go ahead and do some side-by-side setups. You’ll save tons of money and time with this app over actual physical circuits.
There is lots to play with here and we’re just getting started.
Features:

To begin with, CRUMB not only features a plethora of components and monitoring gear, it does it all along with a jaw-dropping 3D UI, which makes it a breeze to use.
That’s a good thing since after all, the first time you try to use an oscilloscope to figure out what you did wrong (did someone say floating ground?) you want the actual use of the scope to be part of the answer, not the problem.
For the electronics self-learners in the audience, it’s also a great way to build up your confidence and knowledge as you follow along with YouTube videos or try to decontruct projects on Instructables.
While basic components and test equipment are well covered, we would like to see the app incorporate more SoCs (System on a Chip) into the mix. How about an Arduino section or something on using the IC2 bus or an ESP32 in your circuit?
The excellent foundation that this app has established only leaves us wanting more, and that’s a very good thing.
Overall Value:

It has been a real pleasure reviewing this amazing app. Like many of you, we’ve always been fascinated electronic circuitry and the associated test equipment.
If you’re at all curious about this exciting field we guarantee you’ll love this amazing app. Don’t let the download fee slow you down, this app is an incredible bargain.
CRUMB Android requirement varies by device.
