Strategy games, and especially military strategy games, can be an excellent way to pass time when playing on your mobile device. I find that it’s very easy to keep playing them because I’m always trying to improve my skills.

Grow Army, developed by Oneral, is a compelling and addictive military strategy game that is as absorbing as it is fun to play.

Concept and Gameplay

When you first open the game you’re tasked with completing a tutorial that will guide you through the basics of Grow Army. The main concept is to place soldiers and resource generators in strategic locations around the battlefield to ensure victory.

Once your troops are in place and ready for the fight ahead, simply tap the start button and watch the battle begin. If you’re successful, you’ll earn coins and materials that can be used to upgrade your base.

My strategy for playing games like Grow Army is to see how far I can progress without upgrading anything so I avoid spending resources on things that might not need to be upgraded.

Though it seems like a very simple game when you first start playing, Grow Army is actually quite addicting once you get the hang of how each troop and resource generator functions.

One thing to note about the game is that it costs gold to play each level, so if you’re facing difficulties it can get quite expensive and you end up losing the ability to upgrade your units because you spent all of your resources trying to play the current level.

One of the things I really like about Grow Army is the fact that you need to work in order to upgrade your troops. I started stalling right around level 10, which is fairly early in the game.

It’s worth noting that your resources are generated on a permanent basis, and it seems like you’re only generating them when you’re playing the game.

The good news is this isn’t necessarily a problem because you can spend a lot of time moving troops and resource generators around on your battlefield.

Though I couldn’t find an exact number, based on player reviews and unlocking the flamethrower character it seems like the maximum level you can reach is 65.

Grow Army is available to download from Google Play for free and is supported by ads. Of course you have the option of purchasing additional coins and resources, but you can also watch videos to earn rewards and help speed up your progress.

Overall, Grow Army is a very fun strategy game that does make you work for your progress.

I truly like the concept of watching your army and base grow while making upgrades. Plus, based on reading reviews it seems that the developers are responsive to feedback and they’re actively updating the game with improvements and new features.
