There is something to be said for mass appeal when it comes to social networking apps. While it’s difficult to achieve, it’s the only thing most people want when thinking about using one.
With this in mind we’d like to bring to your attention one of the rare birds that’s been able to generate buzz, build a significant user base, and is no doubt on its way to a huge global audience.
MeWe is an innovative privacy-focused social app that is the perfect solution at just the right time. It may seem like an overnight success but this app has been quietly doing a great job of respecting users’ privacy since 2016.
Concept and Functionality:
While we have featured quite a few social media apps here on AndroidAppsReview.com, we haven’t seen one doing such a solid job of upending the status quo and gaining such amazing traction as this one.
As the devs say right up front “MeWe is the uplifting next-gen social network with awesome social features and No BS. No Ads, No Targeting, No Newsfeed manipulation”.
No matter how you cut it, the time for MeWe is now.
MeWe, from MeWe, definitely gets extra credit for being so versatile.
Features:
MeWe has done a great job of bringing all the features you care about to this app. From offering both private and open groups, to custom dedicated newsfeeds aimed at just your circle rather than the world at large, to dead-simple chat to a host of other key features.
With all the bs happening with Facebook privacy and unregulated access to users’ data (supposedly fixed but who knows?), it refreshing that you don’t need a Facebook account to sign up.
The key with this app, though, is not to win a checkbox competition with Facebook, its to do what Facebook hasn’t done and will likely never do; let you control your content and data.
Couple that with some key invasive technologies that it doesn’t have, such as face recognition, targeted advertiser-sponsored newsfeeds, and content manipulation and you have the next generation social media app just waiting for you to join.
To top it off it’s a snap to get started. In fact there’s nothing about this app that is confusing or difficult. But if it sounds bland, take it from us, it’s anything but.
MeWe delivers fun custom camera with cool tricks and GIF creation; live voice and live video for around the world connections; next-gen voice messaging; personal social cloud; custom member profiles for every group; and more.
The fact that one of its advisors is Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor the modern web and champion of user privacy should be enough for you to have high confidence in the devs capabilities and true intentions. No bait-and-switch here.

Whether you want to share a few details with friends, or you have an account with every social networking service, you will soon find that MeWe is the one you use most often.
