Having a difficult time understanding and reading Shakespeare plays? Want to really know what is taking place and what those characters are really saying?  Then the SwipeSpeare app from developer BookCaps is just the perfect app for you!

SwipeSpeare helps turn a classic Shakespeare play into a modern day language story where today’s readers can fully enjoy and better understand what Shakespeare was trying to portray and convey.

With a built in Shakespearean dictionary that also allows search functionality, you can search and discover words that you may not have known or comprehended of prior.

This app provides dual viewing options, where readers can see the original play first, and with a simple swipe view the modern day translation on the next screen showing. Want to view the original version? Simply swipe back to return.

Along with that includes study guides and lesson plans for each play (more are continuously being added), and also a biography about Shakespeare himself.

It features a pleasant blue and monochromatic backdrop and makes reading and searching easy and non-distracting. Finding the plays you want or need is a cinch and viewing/previewing them is just as easy on the eyes.

With simple swipe forward and backward actions to switch back and forth from classic to modern day translations, reading Shakespeare has never been easier or more fun!

Although the SwipeSpeare app is offered for free, the free version only includes the play of “Romeo and Juliet”, and all other plays can be obtained with in app-purchases. There is a preview of all other plays’ first act so you can determine what you need or not.

So if you only are interested in reading or need to read (for a class) “Romeo and Juliet”, then you are in luck. However, if you want to read and see a modern day version of more of the other plays, then you will need to spend some money.

Yet, it might very well be worth it for those who love to read or those who are taking a Shakespeare class that focuses on a majority of his popular plays, because not only will you truly understand the plays better, but you might enjoy them better too, even if you have another platform since this app is also available on iOS and Windows8.
